What are the differences between the Eastern Rite (in communion with Rome) and the Latin Rite? I understand that there are several liturgical differences, but I also seem to have heard that there are different Theological emphases in Eastern Catholicism than in Latin Catholicism despite the fact that they share dogma. Im just curious what these differences are.

There are many. I managed to stumble upon a quick primer some time ago that I found helpful. It only scratches at the surface, however.

Vladmir Lossky’s Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church could be recommended. There are also other Eastern books/literature to read if you’re going to highlight the fundamental differences between East and West.

Here’s a few distinctions:
  • Easterns and Orientals have a theology on the Essence and Energy of God, while the Latins do not (though there are also distinctinos between Easterns and Orientals on this point).
  • Latins and Orientals place more emphasis on the Justice of God than Easterns (though there are also distinctions between Latins and Orientals on this point).
  • Easterns and Latins have a more developed doctrine on the afterlife than the Orientals (though there are also distinctions between Easterns and Latins on this point).
