I know that it is wrong, but can someone explaine why it is wrong? I know that multiples are implanted but… Just stuck on some stuff.

In vitro fertilization, IVF is an evil that is both unnatural and causes unnecessary abortion, not to mention, unnecessary destruction of the male and female sex cells. Many young humans are killed because of this procedure.

The Catholic Catechism explains the Church’s position as follows:
2376 Techniques that entail the dissociation of husband and wife, by the intrusion of a person other than the couple (donation of sperm or ovum, surrogate uterus), are gravely immoral. These techniques (heterologous artificial insemination and fertilization) infringe the child’s right to be born of a father and mother known to him and bound to each other by marriage. They betray the spouses’ “right to become a father and a mother only through each other.”
2377 Techniques involving only the married couple (homologous artificial insemination and fertilization) are perhaps less reprehensible, yet remain morally unacceptable. They dissociate the sexual act from the procreative act. The act which brings the child into existence is no longer an act by which two persons give themselves to one another, but one that “entrusts the life and identity of the embryo into the power of doctors and biologists and establishes the domination of technology over the origin and destiny of the human person. Such a relationship of domination is in itself contrary to the dignity and equality that must be common to parents and children.” “Under the moral aspect procreation is deprived of its proper perfection when it is not willed as the fruit of the conjugal act, that is to say, of the specific act of the spouses’ union . . . . Only respect for the link between the meanings of the conjugal act and respect for the unity of the human being make possible procreation in conformity with the dignity of the person.”
2378 A child is not something owed to one, but is a gift. The “supreme gift of marriage” is a human person. A child may not be considered a piece of property, an idea to which an alleged “right to a child” would lead. In this area, only the child possesses genuine rights: the right “to be the fruit of the specific act of the conjugal love of his parents,” and “the right to be respected as a person from the moment of his conception.”
2379 The Gospel shows that physical sterility is not an absolute evil. Spouses who still suffer from infertility after exhausting legitimate medical procedures should unite themselves with the Lord’s Cross, the source of all spiritual fecundity. They can give expression to their generosity by adopting abandoned children or performing demanding services for others.

We believe contraception is wrong because it artificially separates the “love-giving” aspect of sex from the “life-giving” aspect.

In vitro fertilization is wrong for the same reason – it artificially separates the “love-giving” aspect of sex from the “life-giving” aspect, but in reverse form.

Ditto on the CCC. Also, check out this article (linked) by The Times in UK. The article basically says that IVF babies are at “risk of major diseases” vs. natural pregnancies.

I also invite anyone whose interested to comment or answer my questions on this thread → “What does it mean to be Pro-Life?” (see post number 12)

I do not want to derail this thread; but since my questions on the other thread are related and I was directed my “Heavens Flowers” to this thread I thought I’d point a link over.

en-virto’s dirty little secret is Selective Reduction.

often, they implant multiples into the women (like Natia Soloman, although i disagree with what she did, i respect her decsion to give life to all her children), which results in twins, triplets, or quaduplates.

Either because they think the mother could not handle that many or the parents simple do not want that many (or because they only want a certain sex), a surgeon will ( i think around 10-12 weeks old) insert a shot filled with potassium cholride into the baby’s heart which kills the child (something sad, while they are doing it on the sonogram, the baby can be seen move away and trying to get away).

i read about this on the Huffuington Post…research it yourself…quite distribing though

please excuse all the spelling mistakes

Think of killing several of your children, just so you can MAYBE have one living child.

That is what happens in IVF.

However, even if IVF were at the point where it could guarantee no loss of life, it is intrinsically evil by the very nature of what it is doing.

Yos, it sound awful, but dosn’t the Father know what’s happening and takes care of the souls of the aborted child, does the Father know before time began what would happpen to the child? Isn’t everything in God’s hand. I heard two priests discuss this on EWTN once and after the discription of the cost and time and suffering, one said, how about the child born. And the tone was changed, to another child of God born. So, how about the parents, well, they just have to go to confession and everything will be alright.
Did I miss something?:):)🙂
