Me and my wife are currently struggling with a certain sin. I won’t go into details other than mentioning that it is of a sexual nature. We both consider ourselves devout. We pray and go to mass and confession regularly. However, it just seems like out of no where this just crept up out of nowhere and we’re struggling with it.

Now we both feel like we’re failing and seperating ourselves from God and it’s so difficult.

Has anyone been through this? I’m looking for encouragement and would love to be reminded of God’s mercy.

The enemy loves to blindside us when we least expect it, and he loves to target faithful souls who he knows he cannot reach through other channels. We all have our weak spots, and like acid Satan loves to erode away our faith through them. Speak to your confessor about this issue. Let him assure you of God’s help and mercy. Attend all the more to prayer, acts of charity, and the sacraments. Don’t let Satan distract you–because that’s what he’s trying to do–to take your focus off Christ and onto this sin, whatever it is. But again, go to your confessor and let him help and guide you. I will remember you as my special prayer intention today. God bless you both. 🙂

The enemy knows both of you, and me, very well. I was listening to Catholic Radio and one of the co-hosts of a particular program said he is having an ongoing struggle with a particular sin. He said, “I must as well bring a tape recorder to my next Confession.” It was explained to him that some sins are habitual and/or addictive. In my case, if certain circumstances occur, it increases the chance of me committing a particular sin.

The explanation regarding how to break away from a particular sin was to pray daily and ask God for strength and deliverance. God does not tire of us asking for His help. Pray to Mary that she may intercede for you, and anyone reading this. In my case, it took a while, but the frequency of the sin began to decrease. I was told to let God work through me to fix this problem, for lack of a better term.

God’s love for you never ends. Try to be patient, and believe. Believe that God will bring you out and away from whatever it is. His mercy is infinite.

God bless,

Ed

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

I’ve been through this, and it’s terrible. The problem with sins against the sixth and ninth commandments is that they encourage despair. Pray hope don’t worry
