I read so many threads about couples seeking convalidation and so many are so frustrated with the process. I know there are hurdles involved so far as annulments, your living situation and marriage prep but know that it is all worth every bit of effort that you put forth to right your life and marriage. Dh and I both had to file for an annulment as we had been married before. The paperwork was time consuming to say the least but we made every effort to be thorough and we were both granted annulments within seven months. I don’t want to mislead anyone nor am I suggesting that an annulment will be quick or that one will always be granted. We also had to complete a marriage prep course prior to the convalidation.
Our marriage was convalidated on Friday evening after Mass. It was a very quiet ceremony with only our family but we are so happy to receive the Sacrament of Marriage and the graces that come with it. I wanted to offer encouragement to anyone dealing with an annulment or marriage that is in need of convalidation and let them know that is so very worth the effort and it is certainly not an impossible situation. We have also used our situation as a life lesson for our two teenage children. They have seen our struggles and know just how important it is that they do things His way and not ours. They have also seen the love, forgiveness and grace that He holds for each one of us.
