End of a relationship

My girlfriend and I broke up yesterday after almost two years of dating. I feel as if it was the right thing to do but it doesn’t make the pain any less. I think when you’ve shared so much of yourself with another person its difficult to let them go even if you think its the best thing to do. They become more than a best friend and a love, they become part of you. They know you better than your own family do and out of all the people in this world they alone come close to understanding you. The two of us were one and now I feel so alone, so empty. Please pray for me; that I can offer these feeling of abandonment and pain up to God and that I can move on and discern my path in life. Please also pray for her because I’m sure she feels the pain I feel as well.

I know what you have been through and I know a feeling is like. It happened to me once when I should let go my fiance a few years back. But believe me, put it in God’s hand and prayers absolutely help.

Jonny, it was courageous of you to stand by such a decision.

Jesus, bless him for his honesty and courage, and help him to continue to be strong and wise about what he assessed was not the best relationship for them both.

Jesus, please help Jonny and his ex-girlfriend to get through the grief and loss they are experiencing. Jesus, when people are together for a while, the closeness is like the iceberg in that the largest part of it seems to be hidden and you realise how close you were in ways you didn’t fully know before, so it is very hard to work through all the loss and hurt. So please Jesus, be truly there for Jonny, his friend, and all those in our forum threads who are suffering heartbreak of relationship split.

Jesus, as Jonny heals, will you lead him to Your choice of partner for his life. Help him to live in Your love and will always, and grant him a true, happy and holy Catholic marriage.

Thank You, Jesus. We honour You.

This too will pass Johnny as we are all praying for you to find the path to your lifetime mate. Yes it hurts, we are with you through this pain. So too, Christ with is you always.
