How do we reconcile this with mainstream Christian eschatology?

(WARNING: There is crude humor in the video.)

I don’t see it as inherently contradictory with our eschatology. Maybe we don’t know all the science. Maybe sometime before then will be the parousia and God will renew all creation.

Edit: milkomeda lol

Obviously the U.N. must take steps to deal with the coming cosmic climate crisis.

There are many assumptions that the author isn’t presenting as ‘assumptions’ or ‘theories’, but as ‘fact’.

There’s nothing inherently contradictory between one person thinking of what might happen in the physical universe, and God’s plans for the eschaton. I think I’d respond “I’ll trust God’s plan over your musings”… 😉

This is the one I like

And theres no crude humor in it.

First, there is a LOT we don’t know about the universe. e.g. Dark Matter and Energy. We dont’ know how these will affect expansion, etc, etc… A lot of the things said in that video are just theories. Also, we are just told that after the resurrection, there is a new earth and a new heavens…this could be in another universe where the laws of physics are different. God is also capable of manipulating time, which means that a planet somewhere could be frozen in time and we live there for eternity. There are so many possibilities that we just can’t comment rationally about it.

Unspecified is the time of the end. (Mark, xiii, 32; Acts, i, 6 sq.)
“The present heaven and earth will be destroyed, and a new heaven and earth take their place.” (II Pet., iii, 13; Rom., viii, 19 sqq.; Apoc., xxi, 1 sqq.).

John 16
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you shall have distress. But have confidence. I have overcome the world.
Matthew 28
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

Science shows the universe to be much younger, only 13 billion years old.

The 3.11 trillion is the entire life of the Universe (according to Hindu mythology) - so we have a few trillion years still to go. However posted video by OP (according to science) says that life of the universe is many, many, many times longer than that, so 3 trillion is an underestimate.

We reconcile it by ignoring it completely. I see it as a waste of time. Why not focus on matters which build faith? The entire world wants you to disbelieve.

This model assumes that we live in a true vacuum state, but scientific evidence and Scripture strongly suggests we don’t. If, as suspected, we live in a false vacuum state, the false vacuum must eventually decay to the true vacuum state, releasing a tremendous amount of energy, causing the universe to be consumed by fire and reborn, which is what Scripture describes as how the universe will end.
