End times?

I know Jesus said no man knows the day but only the Father and of course I believe that. But he also tells us signs to look for that the end times is near.

I watched several documentaries about it on the history channel and a lot of it kind of creeped me out since they scintifically analyzed it and suggested the end times very well may be near.

They reasoned the changes in the earth and the failing economy will be the downward spiral for the US as a super power, the fuel crisis will get worse and affect the world as a whole, Iran’s growing nuclear threat may spark another war and a lot more that was very convincing.

They kept speculating about the 2012 thing too and that a lot of things point to it ect.

Are there any prophets today at all? Or are prophets only in the old testament?

Was Nostradamus a prophet? They said he accuratly predicted WW2, Napoleon, Hitler, and now even 9/11

I don’t know if he was involved in the church in any way though.

I think this century something big will happen definitely but I just hope it’s not a global ending event.

I am only 20 and I hope to live the next 60+ years happily as I’m sure millions of other people do too.

I personally thought the end times would be near when the world achieves a long period of peace and all is good which would bring Jesus to come again. Or then the anti-christ comes during that period and brings chaos.

Or I guess it goes the other way and things get much worse than they are today.

Either way as a Sci Fi fan, I think if we can get past the 21st century and start venturing into space, the probability of the end being near would be much lower since we would be able to survive if something bad happened on Earth.

But no one but God knows.

What do you think?

Sensationalism is never good for the soul. 😦

The end of the world is when Jesus comes again in glory! Wouldn’t it be awesome to see the Lord and Savior? 🙂

Of course, His Coming is imminent in the Eucharist. 😉

When I was 20 there was a sense of my own personal end being in the very distant future, and now that I’m 50 not so much. You’ll be surprised at how fast 50 comes, but there really is no difference between coming to a natural end or Jesus coming in glory. Either way we are going to see Him face to face soon enough. Our own end is racing upon us much faster than we think so keeping the lamp lit and living like today is either the day Jesus is coming back or I am going to die is the best way to live.

We definitely are in the “end times”, but I wouldn’t fret about it. Your own personal “end time” will more than likely get here sooner. Just worry about the state of your soul. Your death and mine are coming (quickly); whether or not the rest of the world will be joining us remains to be seen.

Incidentally, don’t worry too much about the year 2012. When I was in elementary school, everyone used to say that by the year 2000 we’d all be flying around in space saucers like The Jetsons. WRONG!!! 😃

I see lots of doomsday predictions (even ones that leave religion out of it, as you used for your example).

I’m sure they sell well to the TV channel.

How often, though, will a show about happiness, constant economics and orderly policies and politics every make it on air? Kinda boring “The economy will continue to slowly inflate, wages will go up as cost of living does, we will slowly cure every disease known to man. Countries that are enemies may begin to negotiate, the rich will donate to the needy.” Honestly, an hour+ show like that would be pretty boring compared to “Look at all these negative parallels and be ready to DIE!”

Without a good Catholic understanding of the book of Revelation, the ideas about the end times can be very scary. I would suggest that you read a book called The Lamb’s Supper by Scott Hahn and check out Jeff Cavin’s studies on Revelation. He actually has a ten lesson course on this book and it will do much to sooth your anxieties.

The End Times as described in Hal Lindsay’s The Great late Planet Earth and in Lehay’s Left Behind series are strictly works of fiction.

As someone already alluded too, your end time can come at anytime. I am going on 73 and need more then my ten fingers and ten toes to count the close friends for whom their end time arrived. One was my friend Charles when I was in 4th Grade more lately it is a priest friend who is in the last stages of bone cancer. Believe me, going to heaven to meet Jesus face to face is something to look forward to, not to fear.🙂

The only “end times” you need to worry about involves looking both ways when you cross the street. The only “sign” you need to worry about is the one that says “Bridge Out”.

i.e., worry about the end of your world, not the end of the world.

What good comes out of worry about this sort of thing? It’s really a time of hapiness since it means that Jesus’ prophesies are true and your faith is true.

We have been told to always be in a state of readiness for the end comes like a thief in the night and it is not a thing we can change anyway. So no matter of that end comes on a personal basis (personal death) or a universal end (end of time) the instructions are still valid - be prepared and not be deceived and to NOT WORRY.

I get a kick out of the pre-tribber rapture kooks who have these arrogant bumper stickers that read something to the effect of: “warning - this vehicle will be driver-less after I am raptured away”. Oh good Lord - I am more worried about being prematurely run over by a chicken-little hysterical tribber driving her rogue dogma without a license than I am about being left behind to dodge driver-less vehicles.
