End Times?

My kids once asked me what would happen when I died. I told them the world would end. They said that was mean. I told them that as far as I was concerned, when I died, I would no longer be concerned about what the state of the world was anymore.

That is sort of the way I feel about the whole rapture/tribulation/end times. If I die before any of the various scenarios that people try to imagine, I won’t care. If I die during or after, I won’t care anymore (if I even realized what was going on).

All I can do is let God into my life and try to follow His will while I’m on this earth.

I sort of think that is the Church’s opinion.

Rapture is not a Catholic concept. Not even much of a Protestant one, TBH. Just sayin… 😉

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but every form of human science and endevour is flashing up big red warning signs about the comming decades or century if we are lucky.
In the past great civilisations rose and fell but there was never **1 worldwide civilisation **as there is now.

Economics tells us we are running out of our major energy source hydrocarbon and your petrol bill confirms that.

History tells us that when we reach critical points like this when the driving force is threatened is when civilisations implode and collapse

Science brings us warnings of potential Global disasters that are a combination of man made and natural possible causes.

Religious prophesies become so easily applied to these days in all major traditions.

The world economy is now so highly advanced and specialised but could so easily be derailed; communication and conflicts can spread so quickly now that an agressors hand can stretch over the globe in a matter or minutes and cause destruction on a scale unimaginable even by people today. Our minds can talk of the destruction but can we really fully comprehend it.

**the scene is perfectly set **

but then so was the scene set for the messiah in the ancient times for quite a while before he came. So as far as predicting how this will play out who knows but withouts Gods active help we wont make it through these times. We may experience a great disaster but it may not be the end of the world as expected in the bible ; this may not be Gods time for that who knows but God.

All I know for sure is that we need to start praying and working hard and try to influence everything we can in a positive Christian way regardless of whats comming. But above all we need not concern ourselves unduly with the world when we need to be concerning ourselves with our own and others salvation as we all will meet our maker soon enough regardless of the worlds condition.

Pray ; Pray ; Pray ; remember Fatima and the Rosary it has already probably saved us once already and can do so again if we continue to practice the message. Its a win win situation for us personally anf the world at large.

As always when I go off on one ; I hope their is some coherance and sense in what I have said ans apologies if I appear long winded. I suppose I could have covered it all in 2 words.
REMEMBER FATIMA 😃
There is much to be concerned about, no doubt, but I think that the fall of western civilization could very easily happen if and when America goes down. I think sometimes we forget the actual structure of much of what we have, and take it for granted. For example, our vast communications world wide is touted as the information superhighway and a lot of other hyperbole. We get rapturous talk of the new economy and so forth but it would be possible to bring it all down with one Aegis destroyer in each of the major oceans and a load of cruise missiles well placed, conventional weaponry, no nukes required.

Think about the recent Cat 1 hurricane Irene and the loss of life, the disruption and the damage caused by that one storm. Think what would happen with the cascade effect if you could knock out even one third of the world’s electrical generating power. The added load would bring down the grid and if the situation lasted long enough over a wide enough area, the social cascade effect would do the rest. Before long there wouldn’t even be a thought about repair and rebuilding, it would be survival time exclusively. The entirety of the developed world would be driven back centuries in a very short time with massive loss of life and loss of technology because by the time the basic needs of eating and drinking were leveled out, any thought of technological non-essentials would be well eradicated.

That sounds like a movie script but it illustrates how tenuous is this wonderful technological world we have created and upon which so much of our current moral state depends, and it seems to me that if God decided that we needed a re-set along the way, a “chastisement” if you will, all the things that you mention about this world economy could very well vaporize overnight. Hundreds of years would be required to even come close to where we are now technologically, if it was even rebuilt at all. People tend to think of human history as a straight line or a upward curve. That is a secular humanist fallacy in my opinion. We could revert to gatherers and hunters quite easily, and still the Lord might not return.

There are signs that the Catholic Church holds as indicators of the proximity to the end of the world, one of which is that general apostacy wherein most of the world follows one charismatic leader of a religious nature, a false Christ, literally an anti-Christ. If you think about it, there would have to be a massive shift in the Muslim world for this to take place any time soon. Islam rivals the Catholic Church in its numbers and the gulf between at this point in time defies the idea that any such leader could attract both Christian and Muslim at the same time. A massive shift in theology would have to take place in order for that to be possible.
