Well i see everything going on in this world and you would be a dummy to dismiss all this stuff. It seems the birth pangs are getting closer and closer. I just pray that anyone on this earth that doesnt know Jesus Christ as there Lord and Savior do it now before its to late.

Mat 25:13
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

We shouldn’t just start worrying about this because we think the end times are upon us–people die everyday and that’s just as important. We need to always be praying for the conversion of those outside the Church.

I saw a geologist on television address this very same topic - are we having all these man-made disasters because it’s a sign of the end of times???

The geologist responded that throughout the centuries, we have had major natural disasters, at times in succession. The only reason why we’re noticing them now and it’s destruction is because of the way people are living now. They live near coastal areas, regions where there is high seismic activity, put you put into account the high density of the population in these areas.

End times? I’d rather subscribe to the teachings of Christ as stated earlier in this thread:
Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Our pastor told us that the prayer said between the Our Father and For Thine is the Kingdom during Mass sums up the Catholic view of waiting for Jesus’ Second coming:

“Deliver us, O Lord, from every evil, and grant us peace in our day. In Your mercy keep us free from sin and **protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope ** for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.”

I’m sure some muslims when Charlamagne was Holy Roman Emperor thought it was the End Times. I’m also sure that some during the revolutionary war thought it was the End Times, I bet the slaves did too when they were being brought over to America. In World War I, I’m sure they thought that too. During World War II, everyone thought that Hitler was the “AntiChrist”. During the Cold War we all thought it was the End Times. My point is, we shouldn’t be focusing on whether or not the world is going to end, because our time on this Earth could end tomorrow, and that’s all we need to be prepared for. Our whole Christian life we should spend developing a relationship with God and His Church because we do not know when we will die. Don’t worry about when the world will end, because Scripture tells me it won’t. All you need to worry about is what you, personally do with the small amount of time that God alloted you on His Earth. Follow the commandments, pray, and when you sin, repent. And get into an RCIA class at your local parish to learn what the Catholic Church really teaches, and join us at Easter. 😉

God bless,

Remember, we don’t know when Christ is coming - the Bible speaks boatloads about that (including some very nice parables to empohasize the point). So IMHO if we believe we might be there, we are wrong.

BUT! Always prepare yourself like it happens today 🙂

yes, these are the end times. We have been in the end times since Jesus ascended into heaven. We will be in the end times until He returns again. Be ready, be vigilant, be prepared. Whether it is going to happen in a day, a week, or a millenium of earthly time, our response and actions as Christians remain the same. Check out the judgement of the nations at the end of Matthew’s gospel and conduct yourselves accordingly. don’t waste one moment of precious time that could be devoted to worship, prayer and acts of charity on speculation about chastisement and hysteria propagated on the internet.

I love all the responses to this thread! Nice work all.

What’s different about the age we live in is not its “obvious” eschatological character; rather what marks these times is the appearance of a generation of proud people who think they are so important that all their discomfort is “obviously” a sign of the end of the world.

It’s sad, really.

Chastisement and ‘end times’ are two different things totally! 🙂 I do not worry about ‘end times’ 🙂

So true! Years ago I asked myself, “If I knew that Christ would return tomorrow, would I be living any differently?” Unfortunately, the answer was, “yes.” I look back and see that as a turning point.

Well said! 👍

Unfortunantly, we only have ourselves to blame for a lot of the envorimental ills we are currently experiencing.

We’ve known for some time now that we are destroying the world through our constant emmison of greenhouse gasses and various other pollutants, but because we worship the almighty dollar above all else, even God in most cases, we have ignored the warnings that we could take these matters into our own hands and end them before they got worse. But we continued on with total imputance.

Now we are seeing the effect of this imputance as the earth as warmed 1º f above average and is expected to continue another 2º over the next few decades. The hurricanes are worse now because the oceans are warmer, and as they contine to become warmer still the weather patterns will become even more violent and disturbed. Our fault. Not Gods.

Yes, these are indeed the end times, but just like Pharoah, it is by our own decree that we should die.

God Bless

Hi seetiger,

Please start another thread on the rapture or do a search here or on the main catholic.com webpage for our position on the “rapture”. You will get more responses.

God bless,

I went to go see Fr John Corapi in Hamburg, NY and he said behind every physical evil there is a moral evil. Your statement is very well true but it does not exclude the possiblity that God is using physical upheavals of nature to wake us up. Our world is saturated with blood on their hands…and as the prophetic Fr John says: You can’t spit in God’s eye and get away with it.

One thing that led me back to the Church was how Pope John Paul made the year 2000 as a year of celebration and set a tone for evangelization and rejoicing, instead of the doom and gloom we heard on tv.

You know neither the time or place so we shouldn’t worry about it, as each of us has our own personal built in end of the world for every one of us sooner or later.

Lets just preach the gospel to the ends of the earth and spread the good news.

God Bless

If you would like to talk about the rapture beliefs, feel free to start a thread.

End times? Only in the sense that “time” has been “ending” since the start of “time”. I quote because of the broad scope of meaning.

Anywho, do I think it is THE END TIMES!!!..Not really since I look at how people were in the Dark Ages and back over the years at Natural Disasters. I think the end times is mostly about preparing yourself for death since your particular “end times” could be any moment now. I do believe in the second coming but it makes sense to also view it as “am I ready to meet God”? Just live a good CATHOLIC life…:D…and help others, pray, do all sorts of good things, then when your end times rolls around, you’ll be ready.

peace to all,
dxu
