Hey all! I am looking to ask my girlfriend for her hand in marriage in the next year or so and was doing some research on wedding rings when I read that they are paganistic and immoral…???

biblicalperspectives.com/books/christian_dress/4.html

jesus-messiah.com/html/wedding_rings.html

Is there anything wrong with wedding rings and engagement rings? I have always thought them to be a marvelous, outward statement (without words) of one man to one woman and vice versa… I have never before known anyone to question this and have never met anyone married, that I can think of, Catholic, Protestant, etc. who does not wear a wedding band…
I simply cannot begin to fathom that such would be wrong… If so, then are Christmas trees and the like wrong as well…?

Oh scrupulosity… Pray for me please 🙂

Thank you and God bless!

No.

Absolutely nothing wrong with them.

Indeed like you note they are wonderful!

AND are Sacramentals when blessed…

Get the engagement rings blessed too!

Christmas trees are great too (there are blessings for them too:))

Scruples hereby dismissed!

Looking at it in that way is a different way of thinking and I would say it is wrong. There are many people who do believe that a Christmas tree is sinful too along with a yule log and many others. Christians incorporated Pagan objects to evangelize, that’s why they are used.
It would be silly to not wear a wedding band. It IS a symbol of your forever love that you plan to share with your spouse, now your girlfriend.
The Johovah’s Witnesses are an example of a group of people who try really hard to stay away from anything paganistic by not celebrating holidays and important days. It’s not a sin to celebrate or use things as symbols.

The rings are blessed by the priest during the ceremony, becoming sacramentals. They are to be outward signs of love and fidelity from one spouse to the other, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Whenever I look at my ring, or see the ring my wife wears, I am reminded of the binding love and faithfulness we share. It’s very powerful…and a very good thing! 🙂

Haha, a smile has been placed upon my face for the day. Thank you and God bless!

Put down the protestant websites and slowly walk away…
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Pagan, wedding bands? What’s next?

Probably more immoral not to wear one if you’re married, really…

I’m happily married for 20+ years, we never could afford rings.
