England to be re-dedicated as "Dowry of Mary"

I dealt with facts throughout history. I dealt with the collective character of a nation known in time to administer unjust laws and punitive measures against peoples to appease the whims of one.

A law or authority claims a responsibility. A ‘defense’ is a posture that protects against an attack. I wish to determine what offends against it so I do not offend. That makes me a model British citizen. If the Bishop comes close to offending, or I fear he offends, or to what degree, who knows?. So we wish to know what offends against the obligation of authority of this head of state in regards to it. That makes us responsible and caring Catholics. It is not clear so I ask, and child would also ask.

Someone said the truth has nothing to fear.

Thanks for clarifying your question. Perhaps it is as you said “to jump the topic” and may have been better to state your question in another thread. However, since it is here, and I see there are others entering the discussion, I’ll leave it as it is.

Catholics in my country are a minority too but it is a joy to me whenever I hear of any Christian or non Christian praise the Mother of God and seek to honor her. I am not afraid of offending anyone with the Truth. “The Almighty works marvels for me, Holy His Name” Mary says in the Gospel of Luke. Mary always leads us to honor God more.

Certainly, we want to speak the Truth and speak the Truth lovingly as we are told in Ephesians 4, but we must not fear the opposition. There will be those who simply have never heard the “Good News” or have heard only incomplete or even distortions of God’s Word but that does not alter the Truth: Mary is God’s Mother and worthy of honor.

We want to have the mind and heart of Christ Who honored His Mother – we are not to align ourselves with the spirit of the world but with His Holy Spirit. The Lord Himself was misunderstood by some and hated by others but He remains the Way, the Truth and the Life for us, and Mary is both our Mother, given to us from the Cross by Jesus, and our Model.

I hope all of England will rejoice at this re-dedication as “Mary’s Dowry” and I hope all the countries of the world will consider honoring Mary more – for in honoring her we honor Him Who worked marvels in her!

A fitting statement, and this act will certainly honor her.

If nothing else is accomplished in my posts here, I hope that I have brought to light
the dangers of ambiguous decrees and abstraction that this government seems to carry forward as holdovers that served it well in the trumped up persecutions of St. Thomas More,Joan of Arch and others.

It would seem that since no collective protest was launched, the Bishop’s Christian act did not offend her majesty’s magisterial position.

That’s good news, and that’s all that counts. 🙂

BTW: JC,perhaps we will find we have more in common than playing the guitar.
 
Ummm… not in our parish Not every Mass. Maybe at one of them, the one which used to be almost traditional ‘High Mass’ but which is now much like all the others.as people voted with their feet.
 
Thanks for sharing. I remember reading that Prince Charles is privately devoted to Greek Orthodoxy. I have a feeling that he’d convert if it wasn’t impossible for him to do so.

I’m actually glad England has an established church. I’m glad my country is still officially Christian and I’m happy we have Anglican Bishops in the House of Lords. I think all of this is extremely important because it safeguards our culture. The established Church is a safeguard against Islam. However, I still think the law on succession needs to be changed; I’d prefer it if the law said that the Monarch had to be a Christian of any denomination. I’d have no problem if Charles were to convert to Greek Orthodoxy.
 
I have a problem with the fact that Charles can’t become Greek Orthodox or Catholic. I think the law is outdated, discriminatory and must be changed. I think the Monarch should be allowed to worship in whatever denomination they prefer. That said, I think it ought to be a legal requirement that the Monarch be Christian.
