Do you think it is sinful to “feel good” or take pleasure when you are praised for good performance or work?

If so, why is it not scandalous to give others praise for what they have done?

I don’t think it is wrong as long as you give God his due praise, afterall we can thank him for all those qualities we possess that are most praiseworthy. I think once you realize that, you will know it is alright to feel good about praise because people are seeing God’s goodness in you.

At our Feast of St. Cecilia celebration this past Wednesday, our pastor said that it was an opportunity to say “Thank you” to the musicians who serve our parish. But of course, all glory goes to God, so he suggested as a response, when someone says “Thank you” to you, you could reply “Thank God!” for all the blessings and gifts your talents have brought forth!

God Bless!
Thank God!

Emotions themselves are rarely sinful, especially when they first come over you. You have so little control over them that you aren’t really culpable. However, what you do with them is what makes or breaks it. I think everyone likes to be praised (most people at least). But like those have said before me, give all the glory to God. Everything worthy of praise comes from Him, not us.

Yes I do feel good. And yes I smile, because I know why I deserved the praise and I know where my abilities come from. And I thank God for being there with me every step of the way.

Of course not! And it even more likely to make you and others around you feel good if you accept the praise graciously and take the chance to practice humility by acknowledging the likely contributions of your co-workers to your success
