When I studied Psychology we took the Myers Briggs test, the professor didn’t actually teach that it was a valid method, just made sure we took it and knew about it.

Most folks said it accurate in some ways and not in others.

Did the Jesuits teach it as my prof did or did the Jesuits teach that it was a valid way of learning about ourselves and others?

Just want to clarify, the Myer Briggs test is not the Enneagram.

Father Mitch Pacwa, SJ has a good indepth explanation of the Enneagram and why it is wrong. In the article he says that no Jesuit still teaches it.

Wow …

Amazing how Satan can infiltrate, confuse even the Society of Jesus into teaching such baloney. And, they even censored Fr. John Hardon S.J. for saying the Enneagram was problematic & not to be promoted/believed.

Luckily, Fr.Pacwa, a Jesuit, …figured it out as secular myth, and got the Jesuit’s back on course.

The Vatican published a document that included statements against Enneagram called JESUS CHRIST: THE BEARER OF THE WATER OF LIFE: A Christian reflection on the “New Age”. Here what it said:
Instead, it has always existed side by side with Christianity, sometimes taking the shape of a philosophical movement, but more often assuming the characteristics of a religion or a para-religion in distinct, if not declared, conflict with all that is essentially Christian”.(6) An example of this can be seen in the enneagram, the nine-type tool for character analysis, which when used as a means of spiritual growth introduces an ambiguity in the doctrine and the life of the Christian faith.

Myers Briggs test is a learning styles inventory …I took it starting Grad. School…not a personality test.

I wonder as a personality test if the enneagram is more or less useful than all of those Buzzfeed quizzes. (which Hobbit are you? which Star Wars character are you? which classic rock band are you? etc)

My wife and I participated in a marriage prep program of the Archdiocese of Portland, conducted at office spaces of Providence (Catholic) Hospital. Each and every participant in this program was required to complete the MB battery. Marriage counselors advised participants based on these results.

The MB Battery was STUPID. We both quit the program. That was 10 years ago.

Enneagram of Personality is as wacky as the engram of dianetics :eek:

both of them are New Age/non-Christian beliefs
