At the risk of seeming hypersensitive, I have to admit that I find it tiresome (dare I say offensive?) when people look at the history of Catholics proselytizing Eastern Christians, and see “proof” that the Catholic Church is the one true church.

No offense, I hope, but I just really don’t get that.
At the risk of seeming hypersensitive, I find it tiresome, daresay offensive that a fellow Catholic should say this, i.e., the RCC has admitted to her mistakes, but this does not change the fact that Eastern Catholics are in communion with Latin Catholics (of today) because they believe the CC to be the one true Church. God bless!

Sorry if I’ve offended you, that was not my intention. I don’t take it as proof, I appreciate it as a positive aspect of the Catholic Church and its inclusiveness. I live in an Orthodox country and we have our own Greek Catholic Church, so I am aware that the proselytizing and the “union” weren’t always made in the best possible way: however, the fact that the communion with Rome was accepted by people from all of the liturgical traditions is important in my opinion, and since you are a member of an Eastern Catholic Church I assume you have nothing against this communion yourself 😛
Gicutzu -

Great & welcome Gicutzu. Are you going through RCIA?

PnP
With each day I become more convinced that I should go through RCIA, but I still live with my parents who are against my conversion and I (maybe not explicitly, but still) promised my father that I wouldn’t convert before I move out. I try to attend Mass as often as I can though, and even though it pains me that I can’t partake of the Body and Blood of Christ yet, I still feel very at home and at peace during Mass.
Still praying for you Gicutzu! Lots of love and blessings from above.
Thank you so much for your prayers! 🙂

Sorry if I’ve offended you,
Don’t worry, you didn’t.

Okay, so noted. 🙂

Oh, I have no plans of leaving the Roman Communion. (Although, for the record, neither do I encourage those who are Orthodox to switch to Catholicism. In your case, since you’re not a member of either communion, I have no problem “nudging” you toward Catholicism rather than Orthodoxy.)

If there is one Holy Spirit then I assume there is one Church since when I went to school was taught there is only one God. So if there are many churches I assume there are many
holy spirits. So I’m asking you which church should we follow, the one which has survived for 2000 plus years, how many holy spirits shall i follow since you say there are many ?

Helloooo o’Slaney. Last I heard the Holy Spirit is quite capable of multi tasking. It is not winner take all either. We share much in common, by the grace and power of the Holy Spirit. He does not abandon truth we hold in common because we have differences in other areas. As far as age of a church , I am encouraged by Elihu in the story of Job, The youth was was “correct” and multitude of years were not wise, nor correct in the matter.

I probably wouldn’t have thought to put it quite that way 😉 but I definitely think the idea your responding to – that multiple churches means multiple Holy Spirits – is bizarre (even by internet standards).

Happy new year !

The Holy Spirit can indeed multi task, can be in more than one place at once, what he Holy Spirit never did is be aligned to another Jesus, to another Father, to another Holy Spirit…
One Holy Spirit, then there can be only one Holy Spirit, there can only be one God+++

Yes multiple churches since Jesus only established One Church, if there is only One God then there can only be one Church, if there is more than one church then there are many holy spirits, Jesus said He and the Father are One, so how can there be many more holy spirits apart from the evil spirit of satan ?
