Here is a question. What do the rubrics say to do in the Eucharistic Prayer when we our between popes?
Is the priest just to omit “for John Paul our pope” ?

Don’t know, but if no one responds before 7 PM CST I’ll tell you what they did at my parish during the Sunday Vigil Mass, which will no doubt be offered for the Holy Father.

According to the CCCB website:
Eucharistic Prayer

In the Eucharistic Prayer, the name of the Pope (since the Apostolic See is vacant) is omitted at the place where the congregation is invited to pray for the leaders (Pope, bishop and all the clergy) in the Church.

Eucharistic Prayers II and III provide a special memento for a Mass for the Dead. If they are used in a Mass celebrated for the late Pope, it is appropriate to use the memento to mention the name of the deceased Pope (for example, in Eucharistic Prayer II: “Remember John Paul II, whom you have called from this life. In baptism …”).

When he got to the point in the E.P. when he usually prays “with John Paul our Pope, Adam our Archbishop…”, our pastor simply paused for a moment after “with” and continued on with “Adam our Archbishop…” It was obvious that he was fighting tears at that point (as were many of us in the congregation). His voice wavered through most of the E.P.
