My non Catholic friends pray the prayers that saint Paul wrote
Like ephasans 1 17
That the eyes of your understanding will be enlightened
With wisdom and revelation.
Are you familiar with scriptural prophetic pray and it’s results?
I posted this on a similar thread re: Eph 1: 17-23 by another poster appearing in concert with yours. Hope is answers your question.
St. Paul is writing a letter to the church at Ephesus, exhorting them to seek God and receive the ‘graces’ God provides for those who seek Him. Eph 1: 17-23 is not a prayer in the traditional sense that Catholics understand prayer. (and I’m not just referring here to rote recitation of a standard “prayer” i.e. Our Father, Hail Mary, etc.)
Protestant denominations rely almost entirely on the Bible for inspiration and worship. The RCC has something much more. It is called the Mass.
Do we Catholics us scripture as a method of prayer? My suggestion is to attend a Catholic Mass and then see how many scriptural references are in the Mass proper. Many former Protestants who convert to Catholicism say that in their study of Catholicism, particularly the Mass, they were amazed at how much Scripture was inherent in all the prayers of the Mass, not just the two or three readings from Scripture itself that occur in the Liturgy of the Word portion of the Mass.
As to prophetic, Catholics believe in Christ’s words that “he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood, will have life eternal, and I will raise him up on the last day.” ( John, Chapter 6)
Can’t get much more prophetic than that.
