Hey what should my response be to a baptist friend who quotes
Ephesians 2:8-10 (New International Version) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Thanks

Sometimes anti-Catholics believe Catholics think that doing good works somehow forces God to let us into Heaven.

It’s ridiculous.

By the way, i think if you read all of Paul’s letters it is pretty clear that Paul was all about allowing Gentiles to enter the Church whilst not adhering to the Jewish Law. His big argument was that by faith the Gentiles have been born again to life in Jesus and thus are dead to the Jewish Law. Circumcisian, Jewish dietry Law etc.

I think that is the background behind the Ephesians line you quote.

My response would be to simply say “yes, no problem with the quote at all”.
