initially…no, he didnt…at least not at the outset

but according to the “fall of man” account as given in the book of genesis, GOD did in fact advise adam that he would toil and have to labor hard and to eve that she would suffer childbirth pangs and her husband would rule over her. READ your bible !

Several months old thread but I will respond. Saint JPII set it out well. The suffering at childbirth was a statement of what would happen, not God causing suffering. This was a consequence of the Fall and sin which also resulted in the domination of men over women.
