Ephphatha! - 'Be Opened!'

Jesus was so moved to compassion, that He did not hesitate to actually touch the man to heal him. Jesus -the Word- could simply speak ‘Ephphatha!’ for the healing to be done.

Jesus chose instead to establish a physical connection, to share the human warmth of touch with the needy man. Contagious diseases existed back then, as they do now. It is safe to assume that the man was a beggar, and not particularly groomed, nor free from germs.

He told the man to not tell anyone, but he just couldn’t contain himself - he told everyone!

How does Jesus’ “touch” make you feel?

I didn’t see where to click to read the story. Did you just mean the article that
this post is an exerpt from?

I noticed that it was Jesus who put spit on the man, and on his tongue too!

How the touch of Jesus makes me feel, is not easy to put into words. I wrote
some things here, but they’re just not right, so I just erased them again. sorry!
I tried on a thread called “what does it feel like to feel the presence of Christ”, but
still there was something missing, not quite right… Maybe it wasn’t meant to be
able to be put into words…

Words are sometimes hard to find when we try to explain spiritual things. I would have liked to read what you wrote, though!

Do you find that when you force yourself to p(name removed by moderator)oint words, sometimes you discover things that you had not considered? It happens to me. Sometimes it only happens when in dialogue [as in this forum]. That is why I write posts such as this.

Another perspective I have on this one, is that the Gospel says that Jesus “groaned.” Why? And why did the Holy Spirit put that in there? Any insights?

in my country we use the jerusalem bible for the liturgy. in the gospel it said Jesus sighed, not groaned
