It is a beautiful tradition and a very real blessing to impart to your homes. Just a little reminder so you may participate in this ritual today. Some parishes here in our diocese customarily give out chalk, holy water in small bottles, and the blessing prayers. This is just a sample in case you do not have them available in your church.
I had not seen blessings such as this one which require that each door in the home must be inscribed. I simply do the front door, placing the inscription on the casing above the door. I do, however, bless each room. It need not be the father to give the blessing prayer, as in the case of those who are widowed, etc.
