and not because of rigid logical deduction. It is our personal assent to the teachings of a particular religion that makes it true for us, I think.

thank you very much Cmatt. cant comment on the commander in chief, except to say hes doing a pretty good job with the situation in iraq and afghanistan. i applaud his moves. didnt vote for him. wont vote for him. but as far as presidents go, we have had far worse. i almost had a chance to meet him. my daughter was supposed to graduate this year, and he picked her highschool to give the commencement speech. silly kid! she had decided just a few weeks prior not to graduate, and stay another year. boy did she kick herself in the rear! could have shaken his hand. me too! ah well, one of those things. thx again for the prayers Peace 🙂

yes, since the courts are the ones that decide what the marriage is.

the arguments on both are very lame to me.
i have not heard from those against gay marriage to site God’s law on marriage. it seems that God became irrelevalent to the world and everyone is afraid to even mention. what is left is arguments of man and science which both can be argued against. when God is out of sight anything goes. man is left to himself and who is to say i am right and you are wrong? God has been replaced by civil rights.

I believe in God. I believe His Son Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. Sacrificed His life on the cross for our sins. Is seated at the righthand of God our Heavenly Father and will come again. I also believe I reside in a democratic state of plural beliefs. (well no I actually know that the last I checked). And not in Vatican City.

There Wisdom. Hope that helps that everyone is not at all afraid to even mention God. God bless you on your walk in faith and peace.

Sometimes. When laws are made that might be unconstitutional, the courts tend to become involved in a review process. Sometimes the laws hold up; sometimes they don’t. But the courts don’t write the laws.

common law. it is made up by the courts and constitutes the majority of the law.

if there is no ennacted law governing a situation, the courts come into play.

where is the ennacted law that says that marriage is between a man and a woman?

i wish i could make sense of what you just said.

any way, Jesus also came in a time which people had many different believes. but He was most concern in Teaching waht He was commanded to teach. and He commands us to adhere to it. hope this helps.

And thank you for your reasoned assessment of Obama’s presidency. Like many, I am disappointed by his conservatism, but I think he is, despite the efforts of many, turning into a competent, workmanlike president.

Liberals will never get a liberal president, just as conservatives are constantly disappointed by those who claim to be conservative.

I’m sympathetic to your wife’s impulse, but I heard Sean Bean interviewed once and he said that he had never changed a diaper - I have no problem with that theoretically if his wife doesn’t, but if he was my husband he’d be found buried under the basement floor.

I guess he’d only be good as a boy-toy.

More seriously with regard to the rest of the thread - how can people say that TEC isn’t forcing its views on anyone? People who are maintaining an Anglican understanding are being forced to leave their parishes, not being allowed to keep, in some cases even buy, their buildings.

My ACC parish raised millions to restore their historic church after a disaster. But you can bet the diocese wouldn’t let it go if it came down to it.
