Code:
His candidacy is being advanced by, among others, Cissy Marshall, Thurgood Marshall's wife, and the Rev. William Pregnall of St. Augustine's Church in Washington.

If the grass-roots proposal is approved -- a process that takes years -- Marshall will be added to the church's "Book of Lesser Feasts and Fasts," one of three primary worship texts of the Episcopal Church

He was one who voted in the affirmative for Roe V Wade I believe… hardly saintly.

But, I could care less what the Episcopalians do.

The EC is officially pro-abortion, so I guess a pro-abortion “saint” isn’t out of the question for them.

GAG.

I’m so glad that I left that church, I thank God every day for the CC.

It will go well with their choice of bishops, and will have the same validity.

This is just awful. The real colors of the progressive Christians are showing. And it stinks.

He isn’t being considered for his vote for Roe, but for his struggles for equal protection. He argued the case of Brown. In fact, the feast day would be on the anniversary of that decision. He stayed faithful to his Church throughout his life.

I was wondering when someone would bring this up.:amen:

Do you know how ironic this is? Roe v Wade and Brown v Board of Education both dealt with the issue of equal rights. The difference being that Roe v Wade involved the rights of the unborn and Brown involved the rights of black people. Apparently this guy frowns upon discrimination against different races, but discrimination according to age is okay. Hypocrite is too nice a word to describe people like this.

Not that anything the EC declares has actual validity, but if they want to have some fake saint-making process they should at least follow some guidelines like examining the person’s whole life and what they stand for… oh wait, yeah, he stood for abortion and so does the EC.

Again: GAG.

When it comes to sainthood, Episcopalians follow a looser procedure than the Roman Catholic Church, which conducts a rigorous investigation into the life of any saint-to-be and requires proof that he or she performed at least two miracles. Candidates for Episcopal sainthood should be figures who displayed traits such as “heroic faith,” “joyousness” and “service to others for Christ’s sake,” according to church guidelines.

Allowing for the legalization of the mass murder of to date 47 million innocents, many of who are African-American, certainly counterbalances his civil rights accomplishments.

hmmm, that sounds familiar…thats because they stole/borrowed this part from the Catholic Church, of which they handily dispensed with in order for them to do whatever they pleased, and then call that a religion.

Well if that Church’s guidelines include tearing apart little girls from their mothers wombs and dumping them in trash bags in an alley, then Thurgood Marshall is a great representation of that church

Please…you can’t seriously think that the Church of Jesus Christ, the most non-violent, pure loving example of virtue and grace that has ever touched this earth, would morally approve of pulling a small child half way out of her mother’s womb, snapping her neck and ripping her to pieces, because her mother just doesnt feel like this is the time to have a baby(although she knew by having sex that a baby is sometimes the result)

Noone on earth could seriously square that with their conscience if they truly loved Jesus.

But Thurgood Marshall didn’t commit any of these abortions. He was simply one of a number of justices that ruled that abortion rules were too strict at the time. All he did is give people an occasion of sin, it took each woman, probably around 40 million of them (I have heard that repeat abortions aren’t that incredibly common) to make that decision on her own.

God put him in a position of great authority, and he judged unjustly. You better believe every one of those babies were crying out to God for justice on the day of that mans death. You cant possible be serious in thinking that his decision to rule lawful and just the killing of millions of humans did not affect the judgement on his soul. Thats just denial. So if the supreme court were to rule that raping small children was legal, you really dont think that God would hold them responsible for that. Thats just a ridiculously ignorant statement.

That’s a sin in itself. You need to learn the definition of sin. Study your theology. Your Church has simply made up its own beliefs based on human error and judgement, and it shows in your reasoning.

You havent answered my question on your beliefs of pulling a small child half way out of her mothers womb, and breaking her neck and sucking out her brain.

Mindful of your love for Jesus, you really believe that that is what he taught?

Justice Marshall’s distinguished career expanded civil rights and human decency for most of the 20th century. He served as counsel for the suit for integration of our public schools. The laws that bloodlines and skin pigment meant more than basic human rights died – thanks to his lifelong efforts.

The US Consitution is for all of us and not just a handful. We are citizens. We are a free people.

Grandson of a slave, Thurgood Marshall showed the world that in American a gifted kid can become a Supreme Court Justice. He also showed the US that a man hit with every ugly slap of race hate kept his dignity. And still talked of his deep love and pride of his country. Because the US belonged to black Americans too. And being American is more than where you are from but where you can be. Don’t matter what you look like. Skin color. Sex. Immigrant.

I think Marshall’s deep belief in equality under the law stemmed from the deep African American belief in equality under God. Despite what society said. And what some Christians said. Taking on Christian faith, black slaves returned Christianity to its roots. A people mired by others’ grave sin believe that Christianity will do as Jesus said – free the slaves. feed the hungry. Comfort the sick. Liberate an earth bound spirit to heaven joy. The traditional things Christians are about.

Thurgood wasn’t a saint. But he believed in his christian faith. . He believed in an ultimate justice. He followed his faith in his rulings.

He was a Christian.

I think Justice Marshall

Nor does it matter where you reside-- in the womb or out. But, he let down 47 million babies, many of them black, many of them girls. America belongs to the babies too.

A “faith” that says it’s ok to kill babies.

I cannot comment on his heart. I can however comment on his actions. And, being party to the death of 47 million babies denied their basic human rights is not very Saintly nor very Christian.
