That’s just the latest Protestant ‘fad’ denomination. Not too worried…

They could always do what broke governments do, raise the tithe. 😃

But this isn’t just the Episcopalians, the Anglican Church of Canada is also facing these issues. My parents old parish is dying a slow death. When my parents told the minister they were leaving they said they got the impression he wished he could go with them.

I agree. Reformation seems to be the underlying theme in all of humanity. Sooner or later we all get it wrong.

It’s the same with the Catholic Church. Pope Benedict XVI has said in the past that we may be more effective as a smaller Church with more vibrancy. This comment was made after he assessed the situation of the Church in Europe.
 
I agree, Peary,

If fact I think the Church would be much better off if the exodus were a little quicker. So many have left now. Many gone over to CMRI, SSPV and other separated groups. The OF church is in trouble and its getting to the point that they don’t even care much. They seem blind to whats happening.

I have been fortunate enough to find a small “hard core” group of TLM’ers that are organized and battling for the old Mass.
 
after having suffered through the trauma of what was happening in the episcopal church, i hope that the Catholic church will remain One Body.
it is very sad to see what has happened to the Episcopal church. as one poster said,
when you abandon the scripture to please the people, you are going against the will of God. i think maybe the bishops in the episcopal church underestimated many of their parishoners believing they would rather stay and conform than fight to maintain the traditions and beliefs they hold dear.
i don’t know what is happening in the city i left. there were many large episcopal churches there.

may i inquire as to what is CMRI? did you mean SSPX? are Catholics really abandoning the Church?

I’m not sure, but my parish had growth last year, not so much from Episcopals , but mostly Roman Catholics dissatisfied with their church coming over to our Parish. I wouldn’t go so far to say its a trend, but its out of the ordinary for us.

A un-reported fact, in 2007-2008, the Catholic Bishop in Allentown ¶ started closing churches in an effort to make things more efficient. Approx. 1/3 of the 150 churches were closed (roughly 48 churches).

In my county, the tax collector is trying to collect on the now closed church buildings. From the stories in the papers, it would seem as if the tax collectors will get their way as these buildings are not being used for worship or education.

since i joined the Roman Catholic Church in 2008, i have found that there are many Catholics who would probably be happier in an Episcopal church because they choose to not want to go along with what the Church teaches. it would be nice to do an exchange and get the orthodox anglicans to join the Catholic church and the liberal Catholics to join the Episcopal church.
