I hold people too high on a pedestal. Then I act like I am the worst person on the face on the planet. I carry too much shame. I guess we should all take responsibility for our actions but I am noticing a common theme in my relations with people once something goes wrong it becomes all my fault. As Marilyn Monroe said, “I may sin but I am not the devil.” Why am I supposedly worse than everyone else? I am always the one who needs to change, understand, do this and do that. Relationships are a two-way street. I am only responsible for my actions, however you choose to react to my decision I think are your problem. I feel like I have made myself an easy target for blame because I ask for constructive criticism often.

  1. Dont take life advice from Marilyn Monroe
  2. Even the Pope goes to confession
  3. Maybe you need to work on you some, but also not rely soo much on others in that you make yourself prey if they are wrong. S(name removed by moderator)ly because they can put it on you.
  4. On the flip side of not letting everything be “your fault” do not let yourself become blind to your faults…
Really just do your best. And follow what you said:

“I am only responsible for my actions”

And in general worry a little less, have some pizza bc pizza is good 🙂

I think I am anything but blind of my own faults. My family and friends have no problem humbling me in that area.

Once again, the time spent navel gazing could be used in working with the poor, uneducated, elderly, sick, lonely the list goes on and on.
You don’t think you’re holy enough. Check.
You have friends who are mean to you. Check.
You wonder why the world has bad people in it. Check.

Ever wonder what you can do???
Your pastor or Stewardship Ministry probably has a long list of things that you might excel at, you would be helping others, and feeding your soul…all at once!

I hope it sounds intriguing to you.
God bless.

Haha. Do not take life advice from Marilyn Monroe? What is wrong with her

So, stop putting people on a pedestal, especially those who don’t deserve your time and energy.

You have to let go of your shame and forgive yourself. I don’t think these types of threads help you do to so.

You aren’t worse than everyone else, and I think you know that. You just have to find real friends, the ones who don’t try and take advantage of you. It could be that you attract a certain ‘type’ of person, ones who believe you are easy to manipulate. You have to be strong enough and aware enough to notice this and say stop. If they don’t stop, move on. Who needs the aggro?

Don’t talk yourself down all the time. It is good to be aware of faults, but it does no good to constantly remind yourself of them. Recognise the good in you, and other people will too.

Well you are on CAF as in Catholic forums…

I pressume you seek advice in that realm.

Truly and fairly all people can toss out a gem of advice, but I mean she is not Mother Teresa or Joan of Arc… And definitely not The Virgin Mary…

It can be dangerous especially for someone posting so much inquiry to hold certain idols as examples.

Sadly most actresses, even those who once wore purity rings, tske them off and say “that is behind me now.”

Things often meld together, and following the lead of some runs risk of following it too far if you are in any sort of state of flux. It is the rare Man or Woman who can enter a world and stay apart from it.

Let us assume the issues with Tebow are true, as in he was dumped due to chastity, perhaps he will stay so even in the face of such adversity, but most who go on to pro sports, rock stardom, and movie stardom succumb especially if they are young and less than fully formed in their ways 😦

Karl Menninger would approve this message, and so do I. :clapping:

No one is perfect. No one is above correction. No one follows God perfectly. Accept it and move on.
