If I have scrupulosity, and I think something is a mortal sin, and I commit it, does it count as a mortal, sin, like it normally would? I consistently over judge my sins.

Thanks.

The reason I ask is that there looked to be a detonation device, it wasn’t, don’t worry, on the corner of a store. I was convinced that it was a huge danger. I thought I should immediately call the police, but my parents urged me to wait until we get into the car, which was only a five minute walk. They said they would call the store to ask about it. I had my phone to call 911. My conscience told me it would be a mortal sin. Did I commit a mortal sin by not calling? Thanks.

Sorry for a change of the topic of the thread.

I perceived it to be a grave matter, why is it not a mortal sin?

A person with scrupulosity --ought to have a regular confessor who can direct them --and even give them some general principles to follow -to apply (for them due to their particular scruples -they are usually not for those with a normal conscience).

For they can be in a* rather different boat* than others. They with the direction of their confessor and the principles given - then act contrary to their scruples - ignore them -(using the older language) despise them, dismiss them–following that direction and the principles given. Acting contrary to what is not really their conscience so much as is unfounded fears. Such is a large key in the age old approach in the Church for scruples.

It is important for you to get such a regular confessor who can know you and your difficulties and guide you.

I learned about that website not long ago, have found it very helpful when there’s a question.
