Your esse is your nature (in your case, human nature). Your essence is what you are capable of doing.

This is incorrect. “Esse” translates to “being” or “existence.”

“Essence” is the nature of a thing. Your essence is what you are. Your esse is that by which you are.

An analogy I have found to be helpful is this: your esse is like a canvas, your essence is the conception in the artist’s mind of what he wants to paint. When he applies that conception to the canvas, a painting is produced. Likewise, when an essence is applied to an esse, the idea contained in that essence is made real.
