. . . this is a news story no outlet really wants much to cover, the fact that our tap water contains great amounts of undissolved estrogen, due from the use of contraceptives.

Of course, the estrogen affects everyone’s bodies—at least if you drink tap water.

Perhaps because it’s a bit of a myth.

Perhaps it would be more sensible for men to avoid estrogen by stopping drinking beer?

Great more things to worry about in the tap water. At least it explains why I’ve been emotional lately. 😉

I’ve always thought it funny that so many people think we women are the sex most driven by our hormones.

Ok, so water, beer, and grain alcohol contain estrogen? I guess I’ll stick to wine. Please don’t tell me that grapes have alcohol too.😉

I meant 'Please don’t tell me that grapes have estrogen too." I must aleady have had one too many.

D’oh, now I can’t drink whisky either?!. I’m starting to get mad… or is it sad. I don’t know anymore as I just feel so emotional.
This whole time I thought I had a gut and moobs because of the estrogen in the water while in reality it was the beer I was drinking every day. Why oh why did it have to be the beer?

So now I’m stuck with: no pizza (gotta cut out the grains), no beer, no whisky, and no wine. You know, you might as well just take me out back and shoot me. :crying: Or I might just have to keep my beer gut and moobs and hold on to my sanity. I’m not doing it for my health; I’m doing it for everyone else’s.

A PUR faucet mounted water filter has the Major benefit of taking the chlorine taste and content out of tap water. Second benefit is filtering out bacteria. Tertiary benefit is vast reduction in the organic chemical content in the water put out (charcoal adsorption action).

Did I mention it tastes great?

The technical folk don’t use those expressions: “estrogen in our tap water” or “synthetic hormones”.

I did a search and found this little essay which might be helpful:

The deliberate overlooking of “inconvenient things” by the Liberals and Socialists is one of their major weaknesses. [Windmills don’t REALLY work, unless you overlook the energy storage issue, their “delicacy” (lack of robustness), their high cost, and all the birds and bats they kill. (Oh, but that’s different.)]

[One of the major pollutants is estrogen … what goes into the waste water stream by excretion of birth control pills. Causes a lot of problems that they don’t want to discuss or even refer to.]

They are delicately referred to as PPCP’s. Isn’t that cute? So delicately avoiding the issue.

ppcp

… as in "if you want to get someone’s attention, whisper … "

Here is an excerpt from one place I looked up:

After a decade of researching pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in water and treated wastewater, Dr. Bryan Brooks, professor of environmental science and biomedical studies at Baylor University, has seen the interest in the subject grow exponentially. Brooks recalls earlier days when he and colleague Dr. Kevin Chambliss, a Baylor chemistry professor, were among the few researchers studying this topic-compared to thousands of papers and projects focusing on PPCPs today.

One reason for this increased attention is that researchers’ ability to detect and measure PPCPs in water has grown. Because scientists are continually learning how to identify more and more substances at lower and lower levels, increasing numbers of reports have resulted in a growing public awareness of PPCPs in water.

I fear runaway inflation of “naughty, naughty Liberals and Socialists!” comments.

I don’t see your comments as being helpful, but simply deflecting away a real problem.

I’m not so much protesting birth control pills: I am protesting the chemical pollution.

Or is pollution a conservative fantasy now?

Continue looking into articles on this subject, and you find that estrogen has, in fact, impacted frogs and fish. People’s bodies are also effected.
