Actually we will not reside in heaven as spiritual beings for all eternity. We will be resurrected in a renewed earth, and Jesus will live amongst us in flesh and blood as God shares in our humanity. This has been the blueprint from the beginning of time. But I guess in a way you can call the new heaven and the new earth as heaven as well, because with Christ among us, is there a better place to be?

Here’s what St. Justin Martyr said about bodily resurrection

"The prophets have proclaimed his [Christ’s] two comings. One, indeed, which has already taken place, was that of a dishonored and suffering man. The second will take place when, in accord with prophecy, he shall come from the heavens in glory with his angelic host, when he shall raise the bodies of all the men who ever lived. Then he will clothe the worthy in immortality, but the wicked, clothed in eternal sensibility, he will commit to the eternal fire along with the evil demons" (First Apology 52 [A.D. 151]).

“Indeed, God calls even the body to resurrection and promises it everlasting life. When he promises to save the man, he thereby makes his promise to the flesh. What is man but a rational living being composed of soul and body? Is the soul by itself a man? No, it is but the soul of a man. Can the body be called a man? No, it can but be called the body of a man. If, then, neither of these is by itself a man, but that which is composed of the two together is called a man, and if God has called man to life and resurrection, he has called not a part, but the whole, which is the soul and the body” (The Resurrection 8 [A.D. 153]).

I never said I didn’t believe in a afterlife. I want to know if you think it is guaranteed and why?

I do not feel that it is that odd of a question, Catholics here have asked just as “odd” questions and all have joined in and answered at varying degrees of Christian charity. I agree with the response given by ConstantineTG, however I think that Rev Kev is looking for something more in depth.
 
Benedict XVI said that "in the modern world many people, including some believers, had forgotten that if they failed to “admit blame and promise to sin no more”, they risked “eternal damnation - the Inferno”. Hell “really exists and is eternal, even if nobody talks about it much any more”,

Of course theres much on Heaven and Eternal LIfe. But what you don’t hear anymore is exactly as the Pope speaks on.

LOOK AT MY SIG!

Pope John Paul II talks about our resurrection and eternal life a lot in Theology of the Body. Its pretty amazing thing to look forward to because Christ will be among us in His Glorifed Body, flesh and blood.

Its a pretty exciting to think about it. We won’t wonder about a heaven we can’t comprehend. We’ll live forever on an earth we can comprehend with full beatific vision much like Adam and Eve before the fall, and with Jesus. The end of time, something to look forward to 😉

Maybe you have a clearer idea of what he is getting at than I do. It seems to me he is using the English language in a peculiar way. He may or may not have some ulterior motive – but most Christian clergymen of my acquaintance don’t question the existence of an afterlife (indeed he says he doesn’t!).

Rev Kev, why don’t you ask your question in plain language that everyone can understand?

You seem to be the only one who don’t understand the question. How much more plain do you need it to be.** Is eternal life guaranteed?** Plain question that my 10 year old answered.

I have no ulterior motive in asking this question. Is eternal life guaranteed to all humans on earth.

OH you mean OUTSIDE Christs church, the Catholic Church?😃
 
All humans have immortal souls, and all humans will be resurrected at the end of time.

Again, the question is, what state will we be in? The worthy ones will receive Glorified Bodies much like Christ has after His own resurrection. The unworthy ones will receive corrupt bodies and will be damned for all eternity.
