This is exactly what I was getting at.

That being the case, eternal life is not guaranteed but contingent on our choices/actions/obedience throughout our earthly lives.

Worm. Heb. tole‘ah, here probably the maggot. The same Hebrew word is used in Ex. 16:20; Job 25:6; Ps. 22:6; Isa. 14:11. The picture is that of maggots preying upon the dead bodies.
Shall not die. By the same misapplication noted above some have understood this expression as figuratively denoting endless life for the wicked. However, the expression in the Hebrew is a simple imperfect, a tense that denotes incomplete action and merely means that at the point of time under consideration the action of the verb is not yet complete. The tense does not necessarily imply that the action will never be completed. For example, the imperfect tense is employed in Gen. 2:25 in the statement concerning Adam and Eve that they “were not ashamed.” The statement was not a prediction that they would never be ashamed. That they later were ashamed is definitely implied in Gen. 3:7. A suggested translation of the Hebrew tense that conveys this shade of meaning is “their worm had not died yet.”

But if your soul exists then it lives and if your soul lives it has life and if your soul has life then it is eternal. Therefore all soul’s have eternal life. If one’s soul goes to hell its for eternity and the life it has is of torment. If one’s soul goes to heaven its for eternity and the life it has is undiscribable, wonderful. See it depends on the type of eternal life. It can be a good eternal life or a bad eternal life. No matter what it is eternal life.

Yes, but it is more proper to say that the human soul is created immortal. Those whose lives are hidden with Christ in God will have eternal life. Those who reject the One Door to heaven will suffer everlasting punishment.

I don’t think it is. I personally don’t want eternal life or heaven. My only desire is to close my eyes at the end of life and be done with everything = to be wiped out of existence.

I hear you, I have meet a few people in life who think this way. Life in the Lord is your choice through Free-Will given by God.

Speaking very frankly, I would think this through in depth. In essense you are gambling for the highest stakes in the world, your Soul.

1. Everlasting fire. Described elsewhere as “unquenchable fire” (see on ch. 3:12) and “hell fire” (see on ch. 5:22). All three refer to the fires of the last day that will devour the wicked and all their works (2 Peter 3:10–12; Rev. 20:10, 14, 15).

Following the principle stated above, that the durative quality of aiōnios is to be determined by the person or thing of which it is used, we find that the reward of the righteous is life to which there is no end; the reward of the wicked is death to which there is no end (John 3:16; Rom. 6:23; etc.). In John 3:16 “everlasting life” is contrasted with “perish.” In 2 Thess 1:9 the wicked are said to be “punished with everlasting destruction.” The expression does not signify a process that goes on forever, but an act whose results are permanent.
   “Fire” is the means by which punishment for sin is inflicted (Matt. 18:8; 25:41). That “fire” is “everlasting,” aiōnios, does not signify that it is of endless duration. This is clear from Jude 7. Obviously the “eternal fire” that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah burned for a time and then went out. Elsewhere, the Scriptures refer to the fires of the last day as “unquenchable” (Matt. 3:12), meaning that they will not be extinguished until they have burned up the last vestiges of sin and sinners (see on v. 12). For ‘olam, the OT equivalent of aiōnios, see on Ex. 21:6.

No. Eternal life is made possible by Christ. But we must live life according to his commandments or we can lose it.

Jesus made eternal life possible and gained it for us in Baptism. But we can lose this eternal life in Christ by our own free will and sin.

Here is why we can’t wait for eternal life in heaven. Did you ever wonder how no matter what you get in this world you can be happy but it is short lived.

Like a new car, what is the happiness of owing one, I think it is said about 9 months. Mine personally was until the first car payment

But what eternal life with Christ and our loved ones is eternal happiness. Something everyone is trying to find here but can’t. Why? Simple. Life without Sin seems to be hard for us to acquire.

But life with Christ is no sin, no hate, nothing but pure rich deep love for one another. Thats what its all about. To reunite with all you have love and lost in your life, and to know, never death again, never unfairness, never hate etc. Thats why we can’t wait for eternal life.

To not only experience total happiness for ourself. but to see those we love experience it also.

To see the life you always dreamed of comming true, and having that dream what you thought it would feel like and be. To feel a love by God that you could never never imagine in a million years.

To see a world so beautiful that you could spend the rest of your life happy just looking at it. So so much. I could go on and on and…

Ome more thing, I can’t wait to see the face on My Mother and Father when we are all together again.

Especially since my Dad and Brother are gone now and getting ready for the day we all meet again. I used to think that when my Mom died it would be horrible. and it will be for me.

But for her she will get to meet God, face to face, and the see my Dad again, and then she will get to look into the eyes of my Brother who has been gone for 9 years now. That is what Jesus was talking about when he said he will dry every tear. They will be happy tears. And someday we will all have them.

It is one and the same life. The best preparation we can make for the life that is to come is how we live every day right now.

Forgive me for my ignorance but if you are only concerned with this life and living the Gospel what is your reasoning for it? Do you feel you are going to get your reward in this world? If so you are in for quite a shock.

What was the reason for us to be in this world if not to work for eternal life in Christ? I mean do you think this is what is it all about?

Also what was the Job of the Apostles and the point they were trying to get across to us then? Was it not that we are not of this world because this is not our world either, if it were our world this world would love us. But because this is not our world we will be hated the same as Christ was hated. What do YOU feel all of that was about then??

I mean if this was the only world we should worry about why did Christ come and take away death? What for then God sure thought it was important enough to send his son to die on the Cross so we could have eternal life.
