I have some questions about the creed:
“eternally begotten of the Father” -this means that Jesus was always Son, but not that he was always a human right?
&
“the only Son of God” -why can’t we say “the only Son of the Father”?
“For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried.”
But in the Apostle’s Creed it says, “He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried…” so why the difference in wording, if all the words of a creed have some doctrinal meaning, and why should some creeds have differences in punctuation etc.? I thought that the form of a prayer and its words are necessary for its use, but creeds are prayers so why should they be changed lest their power as prayers be vitiated?
