I have been told I am wrong on this. I have a problem with it because I believe the Trinity will never give up on us!! If a person chooses not to accept God and they die then we know they are pretty much heading to possibly Hell. I know Hell is generic name but my question is that what if after 5 thousand years they start to accept the Trinity and wish to repent? I can not believe in my heart of hearts and my deepest regions of my soul that the Lord would abandon them. I know they would have a lot of proving to do and Purgatory would be home for a long time. Am I being a Heretic??? Love conquers all even mistakes right? This one does tend to keep me up at night at times. I see Hell as the final it at times that if you are bad enough to go there you may actually be wiped out of existence in to oblivion. In that case, I know there is no return, but from the teachings it seems an actual place for punishment. I do not wish to counter teachings or be confused.

Sincerely;

Damaged Man

Catechism:
**1035 **The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, “eternal fire.” The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.
In hell we lack all grace, thus even the grace required to move us to repentance is lacking. The souls in hell, when they had the grace to move them to repent did not do so and without grace it is impossible.
