That’s hardly the only thing that was allowed in the OT. So was divorce. You couldn’t eat pork. You had to be sequestered dirtying your period. Rapists were forced to marry their victims. You couldn’t wear clothes made of certain blends of fiber.

The rules applied to a people who were stubborn and not ready for the fullness of truth. Jesus changed all that.
