If you were trapped on a desert island, and there was no food around, and you friend had just died, would it be morally acceptable to eat your friends body, assuming that you had your friends consent?

I don’t think consuming the body in this case would be a matter of committing a crime against the body, unless one did it with that intent in mind.

But then, I don’t agree with the Church’s position on burning the body either. I don’t think it is any less respectful than shoving it full of dangerous chemicals, locking it in a steel lined box, and burying it to ever so slowly break down.

I dont think I would be able to do it. I am pescatarian anyway, so I do not even eat mammals at the moment, eating human flesh would be a long way away from the norm for me! But I dont think it would be morally wrong. I can imagine it would give me nightmares though, it would look like a horror film…

Okay, in all seriousness, I think I have to agree with Lethe. Personally, I think this may fall under prudential judgement.

As I sit here, experiencing the hunger pangs as I am doing my monthly E5 fast, I do not think I could bring myself to eat meat from another person. This is not a matter of whether I think it is sinful or not, it is more the sphincter factor that would stop me. Not because it is Friday.
