Is it really necessary for person A to look down on person B just because B does something that A does not “agree” with? If I hunt, fish, eat meat, and/and despise the breaking of our laws by illegal immigrants, does that give somebody the right to put me down? This makes me feel oppressed. Won’t you please do your part, and not oppress me?

I was going to respond to your question, but I’m too bust looking down my nose at Neighbor B whose dog is currently barking in the back yard.

Oh wait, that’s my dog. 🤷

The only people I consistently look down on are those who constantly feel oppressed.

I was grumpy this morning, and guess I had to vent after reading some posts. I’m feeling better now, but still… 😃

I know what you mean, Fawkes. There are those who think exalting one virtue over all others, ones they find easy, that is, makes them morally superior to everyone else. We see a lot of that today. Groups that start out wanting to be sure animals are treated humanely, such as PETA end up putting animals on the same level, or worse, on a higher level than human beings. All the virtues should be practiced in their proper way. So, hunting and fishing aren’t wrong as long as you aren’t cruel to the animals you hunt and fish. 👍 I neither hunt nor fish, but it’s because I’m not patient enough to fish and don’t want to wade my way through brush for the insanely dubious opportunity of even spotting a deer, not because I see such activities as works of the devil.

Boy, I know how you feel. I was thinking about going next door and complaining to the neighbor about that barking dog in my backyard, and threatening to report the owner if something isn’t done. I wonder how long it would before my neighbor realized it was my dog I was complaining about.

As for people who look down their noses at you, well, unless they’re your friends, who cares? An old friend of mine used to say, “Other people’s opinions of me are none of my business.” On this Solemnity of All Saints, consider how many of the Saints were looked down on by their contemporaries.

Hang in there, dear one.

Why do you feel oppressed? With respect, if you feel you are right you do not have to get upset. People have differing views, it does not mean they are out to get you. Anyway, I personally only really get upset and are bothered by comments/views of people I love and those I respect. You cannot control other people’s thinking. You will find that if you show respect even if you differ in your views, most people will show you respect.
