Ethnically accurate depictions of Jesus

Good afternoon CAF!

My brother has been in search of artistic depictions of Jesus that aren’t so white-washed. I’ve been able to direct him to images of Our Lady that he likes, but he has yet to find artwork of Jesus (crucifixes, paintings, statues) that he would want to display in his home.

If you are aware of any artwork of Jesus that is darker complected, please share it here so that I can pass it onto him!

In early iconography, Jesus was shown with dark skin and very often clean shaven. You’ll find some early images here The First Christians
Our modern depictions of Jesus show him as a 13th century Florentine nobleman, quite possibly Giotto’s patron.
 
If you simply Google image search/ eBay search/ Etsy search on terms such as “Black Jesus”, “African Jesus”, “Latino Jesus”, “Hispanic Jesus”, “Dark Jesus”, you will find literally dozens of dark Jesuses to choose from. If you would like a Jesus with Asian features, then “Asian Jesus” will bring those up as well.
 
Find an accurate of Mary of you’ll be pretty much seeing Christ’s face. He received His humanity from her, so…
 
Go to the perpetual Rosary thread. There are a lot of images (about 2000) of Jesus and Mary of all ethnic background. Anyway as somebody that knows a lot of middle eastern people I can tell you that not all of them are like the stereotypical middle eastern type. I met middle eastern people (not recently mixed) with green or light eyes, and even with blondish/reddish hair and fair skin. Even in the Bible king David and Esau are described as having reddish hair.
