I was reading this and thought it was just another good reason for the United States to pull out of the United Nations:
EU and UN continue to threaten Nicaragua with loss of funds if abortion it does not legalize abortion
Code:
Madrid, Jun 29, 2007 / 11:10 am ([CNA](http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/)).- The European Union and the United Nations have kept up pressure on Nicaragua to reverse the law passed last October 26 outlawing therapeutic abortion in the country, saying economic aid could be lost if the law is not changed.
In the parliamentarian debates prior to the outlawing of abortion, Nicaragua was under pressure from the UN and from donating countries not to prohibit the practice.

I’m not a big fan of the UN. I do think a world body of governments is a pretty good idea; when the League of Nations (anyone remember that?) got mired under its own weight it was disbanded and the current United Nations was formed to replace it. Seems to me for the past decade (or more) the U.N. has been a toothless anti-Western anti-God establishment and it needs to be shaken out, shaken up and perhaps started over from scratch.

Geez, I’ve been saying this for sometime. Why has it taken so long for someone to actually voice my own thoughts?

Jim I’m 46 and have been saying it since I was in college but nobody heard me!!! Now I know you and I are on the “same page” but maybe this story will help Catholics to stand up as a group against the US funding of the UN???

In other words, world government is 0 for 2.

And there’s a reason for that – a weak world government is unable to accomplish anything. A strong world government would be dominated by non-democratic nations. And there is no in-between state.

When I was young and naive I used to think the UN was great. Well, at least the idea of the UN was great, so I thought in my youthful idealism. Now that I’m older and, well, not quite as naive as I was, I’m of the opinion that it just plain sucks. (Am I allowed to say that?) The sooner we get out, the better–for everybody, really.

BTW, Goofyjim, no one has voiced your own thoughts 'cause they couldn’t read them 🙂 (It’s a joke!)

God Bless,
Jeff
