I just had a thought. If a crucifix is a graven image according to (some) protestants due to the 2nd commandment, wouldn’t the Eurcharist fall under the same law? I mean, look at it this way, if, as some protestants believe, the Eucharist is a symbol of Christ just as a painting or crucifix is, then how can it be any less a graven image? Now some may say “well for one thing it’s not carved and for another it came out of Jesus’ own mouth not some human idea so it can’t be a graven image.” So then Jesus could say that a graven image is not a graven image even if the Father said it was? Not if you believe in the Holy Trinity! So then, either Jesus went against His own word or the Eucharist is His body, blood, soul, and divinity. (By the way, whether carved, baked, molded, etc. anything that is not God that represents Him is a graven image; i.e the crucifix represents Jesus so unless He is not God then it can’t be a graven image)
