I went to Mass yesterday, and when it was time to receive the Eucharist, a lady put all her 3 little girls in line w/her and as they walked they had their arms crossed. One was really tiny, about 3 yrs old, another 4-5, and the other was around 6. When they approached the EMHC, the mother asked her to give the girls the Eucharist, and she did.
I was appalled! They were walking back to their pew (one behind mine) and they were playing w/the Eucharist on their hands (even the mom did it). I don’t know if the mother was Catholic or not but this was completely wrong.
I don’t believe a child that small could’ve done her first Communion so I’m pretty sure it was wrong of the EMHC to have done that. I don’t know if I should tell our Pastor about this incident. I had never seen her or her children before, but then that could be because they are new to the Parish or they go to Mass at a different time, or maybe they were visitng. She might have or have not been Catholic. The point here is that those young girls were given the Eucharist. I have 3 3 yr-old cousins, 3 5 yr-old cousins, 2 6 yr-old cousins, 2 8 yr-old cousins and some older ones so I know those girls were really young they were about the size, and acted as my little cousins do…
I can’t believe they weren’t denied the Eucharist.
