Eucharist and emotions

I’ve read about and know the sacrament of the Eucharist. I’ve partaken of it 100’s of times. I know many Catholics who are very emotional about receiving the sacrament. I am grateful for all the sacraments. Intellectually and in faith I am very aware that it is the body of our Lord.
If I’m not emotional about receiving the Eucharist is there something wrong with me? Are emotional reactions necessary in our faith?

There have been times when I’d receive the Eucharist and return to my pew and just want to cry out of sheer joy knowing that Jesus was in me.

No and no.

It’s not reasonable to expect that we will experience an emotional high each and every time we receive the sacraments. Sometimes it happens (and I consider it a consoling grace when it does happen that way).

But will we get emotional each and every time? No. I can’t think of any Catholic from throughout history for whom that was the case.
