Could anybody recommend a book on the Eucharist? I am looking for a book that is deeper than an introduction.

Thanks,

God Bless!

I have yet to read this… but perhaps Dominus Est - It is the Lord! by Bp. Athanasius Schneider is what you’re looking for?

Also make sure to look into what Pope Benedict had written, now or as Joseph Ratzinger. A book on Eucharistic Miracles wouldn’t hurt, and as always check if Fr. Paul O’Sullivan has written on the subject (his books will really help you to love more and to grow spiritually)

God Is Near, written by none other than Pope Benedict XVI as the former Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, is perhaps the best book on the Holy Eucharist. I highly recommend it.

I would second your suggestion of Dominus Est - it is a small book of about fifty pages which one can read in a very short time. It contains some very touching stories & insights and draws extensively on the Church’s teaching on the Eucharist both ancient and modern. It is published by Newman House Press.

Another book on the Eucharist which was highly recommended to me on another forum is Seven Secrets of the Eucharist by Vinny Flynn. It seems to have gotten a very good reputation since its publication.

As the previous posters have said, it would be good to look at Pope Benedict’s writings on the subject. Perhaps you could look at some relevant papal encyclicals - such as Ecclesia de Eucharistia, Mirae Caritatis, Mysterium Fidei, &c.
