I have searched (2 searches is what i consider intensively) intensively on the forums and the internet about this, but i couldn’t find an even remotely close answer.

Anyway…

If you go to sunday mass (Including saturday vigil) and receive the Eucharist twice in that day. Is there anythign condemning taking the eucharist again? Or does the Church suggest it? Does it even matter (I Would think so)? or… is it more effective? more beneficial, i mean for your soul. Or what?

Anything would help, Gracias.

God bless,
Chris

Hi Abiien,

You can receive communion as often as you attend mass. Communion is considered an integral part of the Mass.

If you receive communion during mass, then you cannot receive communion again outside of the mass, unless it is for the Viaticum (communion of a dying person.)

You can receive communion twice in a day IF the second time is at Mass. See canon 917:

Can. 917 A person who has already received the Most Holy Eucharist can receive it a second time on the same day only within the eucharistic celebration in which the person participates, without prejudice to the prescript of ⇒ can. 921, §2.

(Can 921 §2 is about Viaticum:
§2. Even if they have been nourished by holy communion on the same day, however, those in danger of death are strongly urged to receive communion again.)

You are only allowed to receive communion at two Masses in one day, providing you participate in both Masses. So, if your parish has three Masses on Sunday, even if you participate in all 3, you cannot receive at the third Mass.

You are correct that Viaticum may be received at any time.

if you search on the liturgy and sacraments forum you will find this is one of the most frequently asked questions. Yes, you may receive twice in one day if the second reception is in the context of a complete Mass you attend, and even a third time if it is viaticum. Saturday is Saturday, Sunday is another day.
