Can somebody please tell me, at what point in the mass, and with precisely which words, do the bread and wine become the body and blood?
The bread and wine become the body and blood after the words of consecration. These are the words that Jesus spoke at the Last supper. This is my body…, This is my blood…Can somebody please tell me, at what point in the mass, and with precisely which words, do the bread and wine become the body and blood?
Yes, that’s correct.Thanks. So when he says “This is my body” the bread becomes flesh, and then when he says “this is my blood,” the wine becomes blood?
Just want to clarify if it is right at that point. Thanks for the reply.
Jesus said that His Flesh is meat indeed, and His Blood is drink indeed, and that unless we eat His Flesh and drink His Blood, we shall not have life within us. And yet, having implanted in us a deep-seated horror of cannibalism, He knew that we can’t just gnaw on human flesh and drink human blood. So it is the substance of the bread and wine that becomes the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus. Jesus is truly present in the Sacred Species, although the Species still retain their accidents or outward characteristics: they still look, smell, feel and taste like bread and wine, although they are no longer really bread and wine.Thanks. So when he says “This is my body” the bread becomes flesh, and then when he says “this is my blood,” the wine becomes blood?
Just want to clarify if it is right at that point. Thanks for the reply.
