Can a Catholic who has received a reiki attunement and continues to practice energetic healing work receive communion?
Not relevant. Infallible teachings are not the only ones that Catholics are bound, under penalty of sin, to obey.Sure. The reiki document is not infallible.
Interesting. Can you name one such? Not relevant. Infallible teachings are not the only ones that Catholics are bound, under penalty of sin, to obey.
Reiki is a system of energy healing, but which an individual is “attuned” to be able to receive and channel reiki energy to oneself and another individual for the purpose of healing physical and emotional harm or to promote general wellbeing. What is reiki?

The Reiki energy itself is defined sometimes as “Universal Energy”, Divine Energy, or as Life Energy, depending on who is discussing it. People of all different faiths practice Reiki, from Catholics, to Protestants, to Neo-Pagans, etc.
The USCCB recently put out a document stating that the practice of reiki is not compatible with Christianity.
I am hoping to determine if the practice of reiki, providing all other conditions are met (proper belief in the dogmas and doctrines of Catholicism) would be an impediment to receiving the Eucharist.
lolSounds flat out bizarro. Might as well throw in a seance, some tantric yoga, ritual magik, the Loch Ness Monster and the holistic healer from Seinfeld that turned George into a human egg plant LOL![]()
lol
I don’t find it any stranger than believing a piece of bread turns into God.![]()
I have a reiki certificate. But I only did the first level. Then I got back into the Faith and also balked at the idea of doing the second level when I found out what it involved, symbols and other strange stuff. However I was feeling the Holy Spirit in my hands before I even did the reiki cert. Can a Catholic who has received a reiki attunement and continues to practice energetic healing work receive communion?
I’d rather not have those items - I won’t touch a oujia board with a 10ft holy water sprinkler. I’ve read some of Deepok Choprah and he’s okay. I prefer Fr. Anthony De Mello, SJ and C. S. Lewis.I’ll take my Eucharist and you take the magic 8 ball, palm-reading, rhino horn powder, Oujia Boards, and Deepok Choprah how-to’s and we’ll call it even!![]()
Anthony De Mello? Uh oh.I’d rather not have those items - I won’t touch a oujia board with a 10ft holy water sprinkler. I’ve read some of Deepok Choprah and he’s okay. I prefer Fr. Anthony De Mello, SJ and C. S. Lewis.![]()
Or a piece of cheese.lol

no, the reiki practice is contrary to the faith and to the nature of God, especially the Holy Spirit. rshCan a Catholic who has received a reiki attunement and continues to practice energetic healing work receive communion?

Sure, any of the disciplinary teachings. Examples are:Interesting. Can you name one such?

Honestly, you’ve lost me, kind of. How can something be sinful at one point, then not at another?Sure, any of the disciplinary teachings. Examples are:
– the binding of the faithful to attend Mass on specific Holy Days. Which Days are Holy Days of obligation is determined by the local conference of Bishops and is not infallible. Failing to attend Mass on one of those days is still a grave sin.
– the fasting requirements prior to reception of Communion. Not infallible, changed frequently over the centuries, still binding under penalty of sin.
– attendaning Protestant services. Used to be a sin since it was prohibited by canon law (not infallible). Now, it’s sometimes permissable.
That’s three for the price of one.![]()
