I went to Eucharistic Adoration last week because the week before I had an AMAZING experience!! Last week wasn’t so good. I went when there were alot of people in there and they were doing the rosary in Spanish out loud. I am one of those people who likes the quiet. I found it so hard to concentrate. I honestly tried to just spend my time in prayer but it was very hard. I wanted to leave and come back later so I could have my quiet time there. Would that have been bad if I would have left and came back??

I don’t think there would have been anything wrong with leaving and coming back later.

I have the same problem, I don’t like the disruptions. I was there last night and it just seemed like nobody would stop whispering. I just love it when I go and there’s hardly anybody there. It’s just so much easier to concentrate. Last week I was there and there were several people in the chapel. I said chatting with Jesus in my head and I said , “wouldn’t it be nice if everybody left and we could have some private time, just You and me?”…Literally 10 seconds later everybody got up and walked out and there I was alone with my Lord! 😃 It was great, we had a good 30 minutes or so together. 👍

It wouldn’t have been bad 2 leave but i guess i am blessed in that i can get into Jesus even with a lot of noise @ the Blessed Sacrament. I may have this "gift’ because i am used to feeling alone and disconnected from others anyway (one of my crosses, but one that is not always a cross 😃 ).

I guess it depends on waht a person does while at the Blessed S. Sometimes i just sit there and empty myself… and let the Spirit lead wherever… I literally do not hear what others are talking about. In fact, one time i found myself tuning out others so well it scared me! I started thinking, "Maybe i should at least get the gist of the conversation… " If i had been called as an official witness 2 what they said (in a court proceeding or whatever), i would have looked like an idiot…😃

Anyway, i definitely understand the feeling of wanting to be alone with Jesus… Sometimes i deliberately stay away from the Blessed S just to avoid people… feel i can be alone w/ him better at home… but its really not the same thing @ home… Anyway,

God bless.

Keri, perhaps you could ask your pastor about establishing a policy of quiet during Eucharistic Adoration; my parish now and the one to which I previously belonged both have this policy.

I don’t think that it would be bad to leave and then come back later, as long as you made sure to go back later. I understand what you mean about quiet… I am always able to pray better when I am by myself! When there are people there, and you are not able to come back later, I would say, stay. Our Lord will understand if you are distracted and if you offer up the distractions to him, it will make it that much better!!!

Hi what you are sharing is a beautiful gift when you think of the situations Jesus went through when you take St Therese who could have asked others to quieten down but offered the the situations up for the sins of the world because Jesus went through more for us than we could ever go through and so we are given the gifts to go through every thing if we wish to use these gifts.
Be strong

Thank you for your post…everytime someone shares their experiences at Adoration, I instantly feel like a little girl opening presents! Our parish has Adoration every Friday from 3 pm until 6pm and everyone is free to pray as they wish. We do try to set aside 30 minutes or so for the rosary and if it is started in Spanish, the rest follow along in English or vice versa. But it is important to have quiet time. Perhaps you can carry along a pair of earphones that are comfortable (like the foamy kind). This might help in the event that you walk in during a loud recitation of the rosary.

What really bothers me (if I may rant just a bit here) is when people walk in our church and walk straight to Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel. Sometimes they acknowledge the Lord with a glance or a slight nod of the head; sometimes they walk in chewing gum and smacking it loudly; or with really loud slappy shoes or thongs; and ignore the rest of us sitting there adoring the Lord. I tend to notice these things because it’s my job to set out literature; divine mercy chaplets; rosaries; etc.for adoration just in case it’s needed.

I won’t however, tell anyone that the Blessed Mother would prefer that they adore her son and not her. Even though I always put out a sign on all doors asking everyone to observe silence during Adoration I know that many just don’t understand what that means. I pray that God allows us to set the example at that moment that is necessary.

God Bless you for your perseverance and always remember that the time spent in Adoration of Our Lord atones for the abuses of others who have neglected and forgotten Him. ❤️

I do love how when we have adoration on 1st Fridays & 1st Saturdays, it is completely SILENT no matter how many people are in there:thumbsup:

The only time it is not is right after Mass & Exposition on Saturday morn we pray the rosary out loud and we always have a pretty big group (we do this every Saturday after Mass BTW) but once everyone is done it is completely silent. Even out in the narthex, no one is talking.

I just love being able to have “quiet time” with the lord. We ususally have it from 9-12 on Saturday and myself and about 3 others stay the entire time. Its almost the only time I can really really concentrate on prayer. I’m able to say all 20 decades of the rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet, pray the LOTH, read the Bible, do any other spiritual reading and just sit and talk to Jesus (my favorite 🙂 )

I went yesterday to Adoration Chapel and I was very self conscious of making noise with my keys. ugh. I went in and knelt. I had to lay my keys somewhere because I had left my purse in my Expedition. When I was in there, how I wished I had taken my purse so that I had put my keys in it. ugh Next time I’ll definitely remember. :o

I know what you mean by distractions and prefer the quiet. Our parish has someone that leads the parish in the Rosary and several litanies before each Mass. I prefer to come into the church and spend a few quiet moments before Mass, but this seldom occurs.
