Today our priest asked me if I would coordinate the Eucharistic Adoration at our church. We don’t have Perpetual Adoration. It is one day a week after morning mass until benediction in the evening. It is not as well attended as I would like. After prayer, where can I find more information to help me out.

Thank you

  1. I would suggest promoting Adoration in your bulletin and on your website. Write a short, concise article that explains Adoration, for those who have never gone and might wonder “how” to do it.
  2. Make appeals to your parish organizations such as K of C, the Women’s Group, Youth Group, St. Vincent de Paul, etc to encourage the members to go.
  3. Put a permanent notice in your parish “gathering space” that announces the day and time of Adoration.
  4. Suggest to your regulars that they bring a parishoner friend for one visit.

News flash: Jesus appearing in church today!!!

While a bit dramatic, it remains true. Adoration is by far the best kept secret of our faith. You might inquire of those who arranged adoration before you, if possible. They would have a good idea of what is involved in scheduling it. Mostly, it is making the announcement at the end of mass, an announcement in the parish bulletin, and having a sign-up sheet handy. Your phone number and/or email is also good, for those times when life intervenes and someone cannot make their scheduled hour.

May Christ’s peace be with you.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I have them printed out:)

As a suggestion; if you don’t already have something like it, have a sign in sheet for scheduled and walkin adorers and have a selection of paryer books, rosaries, and adoration guides and pamphlets available fro use.

This is awesome that your priest is encouraging adoration. I might suggest you begin at the diocesan level and see what other parishes are doing and how. When our parish kicked off perpetual adoration 12 years ago, we had Missionaries of the Blessed Sacrament come in. They have great materials. I can’t begin to tell you how our parish has been blessed by having this ministry.

God bless you with this wonderful work.

I don’t have a ready-made resource to give you, but I just wanted to say praise God for this opportunity to share adoration with others! I’ve been on the perpetual adoration team at our parish for several years now, and it’s an honor and a privilege. I’m sure lots of us have tips if you ever have specific questions, so please feel free to ask! 🙂

Peace of Christ,

Mary

you might try visiting the various parish organizations at their meeting and enlisting members to sign up for time slots, or to “own” a time slot or day.

Find out if the other parishes in your area have Eucharistic Adoration. If they don’t, ask if they’d allow you to mention Adoration at your parish in their bulletins. It could encourage them to start their own adoration programs.

Besides pamphlets, brochures, etc. on Adoration itself, stock up on pamphlets and brochures on other topics of the faith and make them available during adoration.

Once it’s up and running, if you have one of those free, weekly newspapers in your area, see if you can run a notice in it as a kind of evangelization. You never know, someone who visits out of curiosity could be led eventually into the Church.

Print a short visitor’s guide, make copies, and place them at the entrance to the church in a visible place.

If you know of a priest who is available for confessions that day, ask if he could hear confessions at some point during adoration. I knew a priest who used to do this. If he says yes, advertise, advertise, advertise this in your parish bulletin, notice boards, etc.

Adoration is wonderful time spent during Lent. or To spend time with our Lord at Easter, Christmas… anytime! who cannot spend One hour a week with our Lord? One on one with the Almighty.its so easy and the benefits are great. My advice is to just try it… you will soon discover you dont want to do without it. It brings such peace.
