Our parish has a separate Eucharistic Chapel that houses the tabernacle in which the Blessed Sacrament is held. I don’t believe that there is a monstrance in there or anything, just the tabernacle with the Blessed Sacrament, so you can’t physically see the Blessed Sacrament. Anyway, my question is…Is it ok to go there to pray during the day (no Mass or anything, just prayer)? Such as praying the Rosary or other prayers? Would it still be the same or similary to Adoration when the Blessed Sacrament is displayed in the Monstrance? I know the Lord is still present, I guess I was just wondering if the purpose of it was for a time of silent prayer with our Lord and if it was ok to go there. I called and it is open from 8-5 during the week. Hopefully I made my question clear! Thanks!

**Absolutely! **Go there whenever it is open and available as you don’t need to be able to see Christ in order to be in his presence. Much grace is to be received by anyone who is in His presence, whether in a monstrance, the tabernacle or of course by receiving Him in the Most Holy Eucharist.

Our tabernacle is in the more traditional location, behind the main altar and in the center. Many people visit the Church during the day just so that they may be near Christ.

God bless you! The clock is ticking down for you!👍

Thanks! That is what I was thinking but I wanted to make sure!

:amen:

Not all the churches around here regularly have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, but to be sure they all have him in the Tabernacle.

I believe that the Plenary Indulgence attached to spending half an hour or more in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament applies whether it be exposed or in the Tabernacle, so there are clearly powerful graces attached to either practice.

OF course it Ok to go there and pray.

Yes, by all means go. I often visit our church during my lunch hour to pray in front of the tabernacle. It’s nice and quiet and peaceful there. About half the time I am the only person there. On one hand I wish more people would go, but on the other hand it’s kind of neat being the only one there.

Oh, Yes! Go. We have one too. We have a constant trickle of people all day while it is open. We do have Eucharistic Adoration one night a week as well in the chapel. Every once in a while I do have the place to myself and I love that too.

There was a parish here that had Adoration once a month for 40 hours. The church was very small so Adoration took place in the main church with the Blessed Sacrament on the main altar. The sound system had a tape deck connected to it. I would pop in a Gregorian Chant tape and let it play very quietly in the background. I would turn it off when others would come in. They started to ask for it to be turned back on. Everyone loved it, I had to start leaving my tapes for others to use during adoration.

Dh and I always spend time praying in front of the tabernacle at church. We always pray after mass has ended. Last Sunday when we went to kneel, our twins followed us and knelt beside us. I had such a warm feeling and I am sure the Lord did too. 🙂

Our chapel is just to the right of the tabernacle and a room of its own. I never went there before we started having someone there every hour during Lent and I signed up and have gone 8 times. Now, I realize that after Lent is over, I will be going there frequently for an hour with our Lord. It is the best way I can spend the time and I come away with a new look on life and at peace.

I look forward to the times I am there.👍

God Bless…

Sounds really nice. We built a new church about 6 years ago. The chapel we have now is made out of parts of the old church which had reached it’s 100th birthday before it had to be razed due to poor condition and building codes. It was painful to lose the old church but wonderful we can have it’s memory built into the new one. The wood carvings and stained glass windows have been included in the design. Gregorian Chant sounds … heavenly.

I have a question and maybe I am totally out of bounds on this but…we have had someone in the chapel during Lent and the other day a woman comes for her hour with her son…about 8 or so and the child was eating an ice cream Blizzard. Some might call me an old fogy…and I am sure I am…but to me…IMO…the Adoration Chapel is not the place to be slupring ice cream Blizzards. JMHO…
