A priest at my parish gave a homily about how we are in the house of the Lord and if we wouldn’t show up late for a movie we should be on time to mass, and should wear our nicest clothes within our means, rather than shorts and yoga pants etc and several people were so enraged that they wrote letters to the bishop and a good 1/3 less people showed up the next week to mass. It’s ridiculous, but it is what it is. People can’t take constructive criticism without feeling picked on anymore, and so they really do have to pick their battles. This is even assuming your pastor has noticed immodest dress at all, to think of commenting on it.
