I have been unable to find any information on a miracle that happened during the Mass declaring the Sainthood of Padre Pio.
I watched the coverage at the time on EWTN. It involved the Eucharist on display in a monstrance somewhere during the outdoor Mass. The camera focused on this miracle but the person moderating the celebration for the viewers became silent as the camera captured this event. Padre Pio has always been a favoite intercessor of mine and I was thrilled when he became a Saint. I watched this historic moment with much joy. In the years since, I have not run across anyone who watched this event and have never read anything about the miracle. Did anyone else witness this? Is there any information about it anywhere? I have never been able to discover any findings on this.

What actually happened? Perhaps get in touch with EWTN, someone there may know something about it.

St Padre Pio, pray for us :gopray2:

The Eucharist on display in the Monstrance was bleeding. It was very red. Earlier in the Mass, when the camera focused on It, there was nothing out of the ordinary. When I saw that It was bleeding later on, I could hardly believe my eyes. I had no one to share it with and it was very late in the evening. No one I know viewed the Service. I know there has to be someone out there who knows what I am talking about. I don’t know who to contact at EWTN. I know it took place, but for some reason I was hoping there was someone who shared the experience also.

It was bleeding as in liquid was coming from it? Sometimes television cameras have problems (due to lighting etc) and things don’t always look their right colours. It could be reflected light from a red object nearby (eg the red Sanctuary lamp, an altarcloth or chair cover or something) as well.

I am feeling certain that it was blood. It was very, very red and before It had been white. It was on display outdoors as the service was outside. I guess it is possible that things were not as they seemed, but I was very startled at the change. As of now, all I have are my memories of what I believed it to be. Maybe I shouldn’t be, but I am so curious about this.

Hi,

I’d like to clarify, was the mass celebrated by St. Pio that was shown on EWTN,

or was it an EWTN Mass celebrated in their chapel there at Alabama? What date was this?

I remember watching it with MIL because she was very interested due to some personal reasons, and also friends with a great devotion to Padre Pio watched it, and none of us recall what OP reports.

This was in Rome. EWTN just covered the event. I think Padre Pio was declared a Saint around 2001.

why isn’t this being discussed more?
I don’t know. I cannot believe that I am the only one who saw this.
I remember being so surprised and having no one to share it with. It was very late and my husband was sleeping.

I didn’t watch it, cause the area that I lived in at that time didn’t have EWTN,(thank goodness we have it now and watch it ‘religiously’ 😃 … lil pun… sorry…)
Anyway… my parents went to Rome (they have a special devotion to him… I was born 2 days before he died) and were at the mass then and they didn’t say anything about that. I am very curious now. Worth doing a little investigation on.

Were you at his funeral mass?
