I am definitely fascinated by Eucharistic Miracles. The one that fascinates me the most is the Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano, Italy.

That said, I had a Eucharistic Miracle, so to speak, of my own once. I was in the mental health ward of the hospital and my pastor, Fr. Dave, brought me Holy Communion. When he held up the Eucharist and was praying the prayers I could literally see flesh and veins in the host. It was amazing. Now, granted, you could say that because I do experience hallucinations when I am having psychosis that this was just a hallucination. However, I told Fr. Dave about it right after I received Communion and he smiled at me and acted as though it was a real miracle. Regardless of whether it was a real miracle or not, it definitely strengthened my faith in the Real Presence. 🙂
That’s awesome, Holly!

Anyone know what “ecclesiastical recognitions” would entail?

I’ve been reading a lot about the EM in Lanciano and am satisfied with the scientific investigations but wondered if anyone knows if the Church or other authorities investigated the monk to be certain he didn’t do a sleight (sp) of hand or hoax?
Was it protocol even at the time of the EM at Lanciano for the CC to thoroughly investigate the persons involved in various miracles and circumstances surrounding the miracle like they do today?

I agree! But again, I don’t know if I was hallucinating or not. All I know is it did strengthen my faith and my pastor smiled when I told him immediately after it happened. It was like he was approving of it or at least that’s the way it seemed. He could have just been smiling to make me feel good about myself or something. I’m not sure.

I do have my own doubts about Lanciano…

I believe only half of it.The rest is a bit confusing since a couple of people say that it is very absurd for someone like Linoli to say that a small part of flesh-tissue he has gotten for testing is actually an absolutely complete heart as the results say it is.

Some say the heart was preserved via mummification.Others say the flesh looks nothing like preserved flesh at all,and say Linoli obviously lied. Some people to whom I talked to say the very paper of the miracle says it is mummified.

Joan Carol Cruz wrote a book: Eucharistic Miracles. It is absolutely wonderful, however, I don’t think it has current Eucharistic Miracles, unless she updated the book.

Also, testing of the blood of Eucharistic Miracles has it a Type AB…the blood tested on the Shroud of Turin is AB. I find it fascinating.
