EUGENE ROBINSON HAS HIS FACTS WRONG

April 20, 2010

Eugene Robinson, an editorial page writer for the Washington Post, writes today that “practically every day, there are new revelations of pedophile priests having been transferred to other parishes rather than being defrocked and reported to authorities.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue responds as follows:

It would be more accurate to say that every day there are old revelations of molesting priests, most of whom were homosexuals. What Robinson is doing is feeding the prevailing anti-Catholic frenzy. No wonder there are those like Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins and Frances Kissling who want the pope arrested—they wallow in dirt about the Catholic Church, and draw on people like Robinson to support their hatred.

Unlike the scandal of 2002, which was based on honest reporting of current cases of abuse, as well as previous ones, this time around it’s a media-driven scandal of old cases being trotted out to embarrass the Catholic Church. The fact that the media have absolutely no interest in uncovering the history of sexual abuse in other religious and secular circles speaks volumes.

Eugene Robinson usually has his facts wrong. That’s why he is on Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann virtually every night.

Amen! He is a smooth and gifted personality…a really nice guy…who means well…but no matter how smooth…no matter how well meaning…you can’t find or squeeze “The Truth” out of “buffalo chips”!

In football terms…Mr. Robinson is on the field…running up and down the field…(and God bless him)…he is playing his heart out…but, unfortunately…he hasn’t seen the football (truth) since the kickoff…and it is getting late in the 4th quarter!..I will give him credit for being a legend…at least… a legend in his own mind!

Truth teller:…if Mr. Robinson gets it wrong…on any important topic/subject/policy issue…nobody…and I mean nobody…is going to hold his “feet to the fire”…or call him to question him…colleagues esp. will not question him…he is not accountable or responsible to anyone. (period)! Just read what he said about the Iraq War–surge–and see who asks him why he was so wrong…Nada…zip…no one criticizes him (or any of the elite media/culture gods who also got it so wrong)!

**Honor **is defined as: integrity…responsibility…and accountability:…how can Mr. Robinson or any opinion editor have honor (and I am judging only on a professional basis) when he does not have any of the three defining ingredients…but what a great Country we live in where total incompetence can be so highly regarded when it is cloaked in a winning style…an engaging personality…and…a popular elite ideology! In military terms…this guy would be Gen. George Custer…clearly, not a Gen. George Patton!
